I have spent years trying to perfect the shopping experience on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Follow these tips to help you get the best bargains.
Research Sales and Special Bargains
If you are planning to tackle the stores on Black Friday, make a list of the special products each store is offering that interest you. If you are familiar with the store’s layout, organize the products you are looking for according to which sections are closest to you as you enter the store. On Cyber Monday make a list of favorite online stores that will be offering specials. Often a store will offer specific deals during certain hours.
Coupons and Additional Savings
If you know ahead of time the products you are looking on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, often times you can go to the manufacturer’s website to find coupons that you can download. This will give you additional savings on an already great deal. Save all the catalogs you receive in the mail. They will come in handy on Cyber Monday. Catalogs offer a percentage off and a promotional code that can be typed in the day of purchase. Just check to make sure there is no expiration date. This can usually be found on the cover of the sales catalog. Using these promotional codes on Cyber Monday can really save you money on already exceptional deal.
Divide and Conquer
Often I will get friends and family involved that enjoy the hunt for those great bargains. We compare what we want from each store, then make a list with our names with the products we want beside it. Then we each take a store and purchase all the products on the list and use any coupons that we may have for additional savings. This is a way to hit several stores all at once. We meet back with the purchases, divide the products according to what is on our list, then pay for th purchases. This is also great to do on Cyber Monday, the only difference is that you will be dividing the websites and codes between family and friends.
Timing is Everything
Get to the stores as early as possible. Another thing to be aware of is stores that are opening the day before Black Friday. In this case, camp out and get ready to charge into the store and take in all the great bargains. This is also happening on Cyber Monday. Last year I got numerous e-mails of pre-Cyber Monday sales that were being offered on the Web.
Keep all receipts, and make sure to shop on reliable websites. Always check receipts to make sure you got the proper discount. Countless times I didn’t get the proper discount, but if you have the receipt the store will credit or refund you the difference. If possible, shop with a credit card because your purchases will be protected. When the credit card statements arrive, carefully check them for errors. Make sure on Cyber Monday the website you are shopping with is reputable and trustworthy. If you have doubts, check with the Better Business Bureau.
