The increase in technology is a sign that people are becoming more intelligent, right?
However, although human beings are advancing in the area of technology and other areas, racism is still a major issue. The days of trying religiously to convince people that African Americans are equal to others should have long ended.
A research was conducted by psychologists at Stanford, Pennsylvania State University and the University of California-Berkeley. And as usual, the study showed that many Americans still connected blacks to apes.
Jennifer Eberhardt, a professor of psychology at Stanford, said “Despite widespread opposition to racism, bias remains with us…African Americans are still dehumanized; we’re still associated with apes in this country. That association can lead people to endorse the beating of black suspects by police officers, and I think it has lots of other consequences that we have yet to uncover.”
Black parents need to continue to teach their children about their history, self-love, and the importance of obtaining a good education.
Many people would rather live in denial, mumbling that racism is not a problem. The truth is that those individuals most likely have never experienced how it feels to be detested because of their skin color.
Nevertheless, if those Americans want to pretend that black people are being treated fairly and are not viewed as apes, that is their choice. Now is the time to move forward and no one should waste time trying to convince racist people to embrace blacks.
If those individuals want to become progressive, the history of black people awaits them.
Black parents, on the other hand, should be working assiduously to protect their children, for there are racist people working in places such as hospitals, schools, and police departments. And if those ignorant people have high positions, they will work against people of color.
Therefore, parents have to equip their children for this never ending monster that thirsts for their children’s self-respect, beauty, and intelligence.
African American children, regrettably, have numerous obstacles to overpower. If their teachers think they are apes, then those teachers will not help those children to succeed.
This is why African American parents must become familiar with the educators who are instructing their children. They can never prevent others from being racist, but these parents can expose such evil perceptions and guard their children.
“Why Did You Make Me Black Lord ….
Lord …. Why did you make me black?
Why did you make someone
the world would hold back?”
