Bohemian decor is fun, unique and mismatched. It’s an unorganized- cluttered- collected- kind of style. It involves using new and vintage pieces and finding ways for them to fit together with an unexpected glam. It is usually colorful and creative, it has no rules, and can be molded to fit the individual…it is my kind of style.
Below are some things to consider when incorporating Bohemian decor into your home:
Color, Color & More Color!!
This a vibrant girls dream…when it comes to colors and patterns, I cannot get enough! I’m a huge fan of Vera Bradley bags and Pottery Barn quilts and I have lime green walls and purple couches in my home. You can use any colors in Bohemian style. Purple, yellow, turquoise, and red all fit wonderfully, but you can choose any colors you like. And there is no need to choose just two colors. A variety of colors make it more fun and funky! I do recommend selecting your main colors on walls and furniture, and then using rugs, window treatments and accessories to pop in more bold colors.
Have No Reservation About Your Rug Choice!!
I personally love shag rugs. A bright red or turquoise shag rug would look absolutely wonderful in a Bohemian style room, but if you prefer geometric shapes with bold squares…go for it! If you prefer florals…go for it! If you prefer animal print…go for it! Rugs are the one accessory that I say, go for it and go bold!
Look Funky and Fab While Saving the Earth!!
The greatest thing about Bohemian decor is that it can be old, antique furniture and accessories. You are free to repaint old furniture, recycle old pieces, or just buy tattered antiques. In fact, I think an old, rusty and oval blue end table will look better than a brand new, black, and square table. Go antiquing, recycle old furniture, sand down new furniture…give it some flare!
Think large, chunky vases, colorful tapestries and an unexpected chandelier. Around the world decor is a fun way to bring in new textures and styles. Animal statues, figurines, chunky lamp shades, and antique mirrors are all ways to bring in style and funk.
