Hopeless romantics visiting or residing in the Lake Tahoe area that are longing for a different approach to the traditional, romantic dinner should consider calling “Borges Sleigh Rides.”
What follows is a brief description of the dinner sleigh package, an insider tip and information on how to make reservations.
Borges Dinner Sleigh Rides Described
With “Borges Sleigh Rides” couples can snuggle under a warm blanket while sitting in an antique, European, horse-drawn sleigh that transports them through the gently falling Nevada snow.
The antique sleigh itself is outfitted with jingle bells and an equally as charming guide to negotiate the horses through the snowy terrain.
And what is the destination of this horse-drawn sleigh one may ask? None other than one of the most remarkable, award winning restaurants in the Lake Tahoe region where the couple will be treated to a four course, gourmet meal served in grand style.
The restaurant in question is “LewMarNels Steaks and Spirits.” It is located inside the “Best Western Station House Inn” and has been consistently voted number one for steaks and spirits by such illustrious epicurean magazines as “Wine Spectator.”
Romantics partaking of “Borges Sleigh Rides” will start off their meal with a velvety cheese and bread fondue followed by a soup and salad course.
After the soup and salad course, the main entrée is served followed by a decadent dessert. As for the entrees, guest may choose from a select menu laden with the restaurant’s excellent cuts of beef, chicken, fish or pasta.
Non-alcoholic beverages are also included. Those that desire a more spirited beverage with their meal should note that alcoholic beverages can be purchased for an extra fee at the restaurant’s full service bar.
Sleigh Ride Prices
As of 2010 a “Borges Dinner Sleigh Ride” is $85 per person and includes the romantic sleigh ride, a four course gourmet meal from “LewMarNels Steaks and Spirits” and a surprise gift from the famous “Friday’s Station.”
For the unacquainted, “Friday’s Station” is the 1860’s location where “Pony Express” riders crossed over from California into Nevada. It also served as a way station for stagecoaches and early pioneers traveling by covered wagon.
Sleigh rides can also be purchased in half hour increments without the dinner portion. A half hour sleigh ride is $22 per adult and $10 per child under the age of 11 whereas one hour long rides are $40 and $20 respectively. The price of a regular sleigh ride is also inclusive of a surprise gift from “Friday’s Station.”
Advance reservations can be made online or by calling the facility direct.
Because “Borges Sleigh Rides” was featured on the 1990 Ray Charles album “The Spirit of Christmas”, the album would make a superlative gift either before or after the actual dinner sleigh ride.
Romantics can think of Ray Charles “The Spirit of Christmas” album as a sound track for a wonderful, winter dinner date that will not soon be forgotten.
Those that prefer to sample before they buy can listen to some of the albums tracks on Yahoo! Music.
