The Breeders Cup Ladies Classic will load the worlds best fillies into the Churchill Downs gate at 7:30 p.m. tonight with the most competitive field in some time. Blind Luck should go off as the favorite and is currently 9-5 with Todd Pletcher’s Life at Ten set as the second favorite at 7-2. Two other fillies to keep and eye on in this field are Malibu Prayer at 8-1, also trained by Todd Pletcher and Unrivaled Belle also at 8-1 with Kent Desormeaux aboard.
No.1) Life at Ten (7-2) Jockey John Velaquez
Trainer Todd Pletcher
Life at Ten is a Todd Pletcher trained beauty that has won eight of her last nine and her one loss a third was to Rachel Alexander and Persistently in the Personal Ensign Invitational. She has the speed to compete and should be a factor coming down the stretch. Worth consideration on a win bet and definitely worthy of a play in the exotics.
No.2) It’s Tea Time (15-1) Jockey Julien Leparoux
Trainer George R. Arnold II
It’s Tea Time has two wins in last four against lesser competition and a fourth to fellow Breeders Cup Ladies Classic competitor Acoma.
No.3) Malibu Prayer (8-1) Jockey Garrett Gomez
Trainer Todd Pletcher
Malibu Prayer has four out of six wins in the last six. Malibu Prayer, the second horse saddled by Todd Pletcher, has beaten fellow contender Unrivaled Belle in the Ruffian and should be in contention throughout the race. Consider Malibu Prayer for a win bet in the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic and definitely in the exotics.
No.4) Milwaukee Appeal (30-1) Jockey Rafael Bejarano
Trainer Scott H. Fairlie
Milwaukee Appeal is a fillie that can keep pace but has yet to win.
No.5) Acting Happy (20-1) Jockey Jose Lezcano
Trainer Richard Dutrow Jr
Acting Happy is worth a look just based on her win in the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico.
No.6) Persistently (12-1) Jockey Alan Garcia
Trainer Claude McGaughey III
Persistently’s claim to fame is her win over Rachel Alexander and she has a shot to hit the board in the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic. If the odds go up from 12-1 to one she is worth a look in the exotics.
No.7) Seeking the Title (30-1) Jockey Calvin Borel
Calvin Borel will be climbing into the stirrups on Seeking the Title but he does not have much of a chance in this one. Borel is a big race rider and is not in the Breeders Cup Classic tomorrow so this may be his big chance. Seeking the Title is the long shot bet to win in Breeders Cup Ladies Classic.
No.8) Unrivaled Belle (8-1) Jockey Kent Desormeaux
Trainer William Mott
Pair a legendary rider, Kent Desormeaux with a solid filly in Unrivaled Belle and there is a combination for a slight upset. Unrivaled Belle has run second to Life at Ten and Malibu Prayer but has defeated Rachel Alexander. Unrivaled Belle is a choice in the exotics for the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic.
No.9) Acoma (20-1) Jockey Robby Alborado
Trainer David Carroll
Acoma opens at 20-1 but may be bet down on sentiment that she is under priced. She is coming off a big win in the Spinster and everyone loves what they have seen in their last. Don’t buy the hype.
No.10) Blind Luck Jockey (9-5) Joel Rosario
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer
The Breeders Cup Ladies Classic is Blind Luck’s race to lose. The class of a talented field she can lose but if she does it will be because of strategy mistake or a bad break from the gate. Blind Luck is a win bet and definitely in the exotics.
No.11) Havre De Grace (4-1) Jeremy Rose
Trainer Anthony Dutrow
One horse that is not being talked about is Havre De Grace with morning line odds at 4-1. Havre De Grace lost by a nose to Blind Luck in the Delaware Oaks. She is a solid contender in this race and could be there at the end. Throw her in an exotic or two for the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic.
