The results show for Week 9 of Season 11 on “Dancing with the Stars” started with a repeat performance of Brandy and Maks doing the argentine tango. Tuesday night’s show was a big one, as it narrowed the couples down to the final three. Who will compete for the trophy next week?
Four-time Grammy winning singer and songwriter Annie Lennox performed “Universal Child” from her new album – A Christmas Cornucopia. Cheryl Burke and Derek Hough took to the dance floor to do a retro-style dance. They were the two professional dancers chosen by viewers to perform together. Afterwards, Annie sang another song called “Little Bird”. Later in the night, Enrique Iglesias hit the stage to perform his single “I Like It”.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough became the first couple to move on to the finals. With only three spots available, it was anybody’s game. After Jennifer was declared safe, the next celebrity to become a finalist was Kyle Massey. Two spots filled, one to go!
With a series of surprising eliminations, there were no guarantees throughout the season. With Brandy’s talent, the final spot should belong to her. But, with the support that Bristol Palin has received, the third spot may be hers for the taking.
At the end of the day, the couple with the lowest votes was…Brandy. What a shock to everyone! The look of disappointment on her face matched the look of disappointment on Jennifer Grey’s face when the announcement was made. Judge Bruno Tonioli even pleaded for Brandy to come back next week and perform her freestyle dance – the one that she won’t be able to perform now that she has been eliminated. There were a lot of tears shed after the montage of Brandy’s journey was shown.
I can’t believe the results myself. I don’t have anything against Bristol, but it would be a shame for her to take home the trophy when she’s not the best dancer. Her heart is not in it as much as the other finalists. Maks expressed an appreciation for ‘DWTS’ in the sense that it allows the people’s choice to shine through (with their votes). But, the people’s choice can seem unfair sometimes. Let’s hope that next week produces better results than this week!
