I did not watch Dancing with the Stars on Monday or Tuesday of this week. My enthusiasm for the show has evaporated. Close to the finals we find four remaining stars and I use the word loosely; Jennifer Gray Kyle Massey and Brandy each qualify as stars but what is Bristol’s claim to fame? Is it that she was born of Sarah Palin, is it that she was a teenage mother who now speaks to other young women about abstinence? I suggest that ABC change the name of the show from Dancing with the Stars to Dancing with the Famous. Being famous and a star are not necessarly synonymous; or they should not be. Ted Bundy was famous was he a star, Jeffrey Dahmer was famous was he a star?
The last couple of seasons has shown that the most talented is not necessarily the star on this show that claims to be a dancing competition. This year however has been absolutely ludicrous in its contestants and departures by the voting public. A friend and I had conversations about the contestants and the voting public that determines who stays and who goes. What is America thinking? What is it about the Palin females that pulls the wool over the eyes of middle class Americans? Do you not recognize what dancing talent really is? Do you not recognize grace, fluidity, rhythm and heck plain old fashion coordination?
Bristol Palin has none of the above and should have been voted off Dancing with the Stars weeks ago. She has no coordination and is about as light on her feet as an elephant. The only reason that she is still on the show is because she is Sarah Palin’s daughter. Perhaps one of the things on the tea party’s agenda is their weekly voting for Bristol on Dancing with the Stars. Her longevity is reflective of Jerry Springer’s fan voting block that kept him on the show weeks beyond the level his performances deserved.
Consider the candidates that have left the show: Rick Fox was a much better dancer than Bristol Palin but he lost votes from African Americans for a different reason. Seventy plus year old Florence Henderson was a much better dancer than Bristol Palin and she was voted off weeks ago. Kurt Warner who is far from a Gene Kelly is a better dancer than Bristol and yet Bristol is a Palin still standing.
If Bristol Palin wins Dancing with the Stars I will never watch the show again and it should not consider itself a dance competition. I believe that Bristol wants to go home do her and all of us a favor America, send her back to Alaska and her momma bear. After all she is likely needed on the set of her momma’s show Sarah Palin’s Alaska. I’ve got to go I think I am nauseous.
