Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars is fighting back, as reported at Yahoo’s OMG! The 20-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin has made it to the semi-finals of season 11, despite the fact that she has fallen to the bottom of the leaderboard, based on judge’s scores, more often than once.
Many people are claiming Bristol has advanced due to Sarah Palin supporters. Some commenters have come out and plainly stated it. “Yeah…that’s right…this is about a center right country who is tired of being in the silent majority. So everyone who hates the fact she is moving on because of her mom, and the tea party, get use to it! It is time to flex conservative muscle in every aspect of our society, even if it is something as small and petty as DWTS,” said a commenter.
Bristol rejects such a notion, “There’s no politics involved in this.”
Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars is slowly learning how to dance, but is that enough to win?
Dancing with the Stars, season 11, includes celebrities Audrina Patridge from The Hills, singer Brandy, actor David Hasselhoff, The Brady Bunch mom Florence Henderson, Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing, retired quarterback Kurt Warner, Disney’s Kyle Massey, comedian Margaret Cho, singer Michael Bolton, Mike Sorrentino from Jersey Shore, retired basketball player Rick Fox and Bristol Palin. Bristol Palin is a high school graduate and an unwed mother. What makes her different than all the other high school graduates and unwed mothers out there is that she is the daughter of Sarah Palin. Would she have become a spokesperson for sexual abstinence, able to command up to $30,000 per gig, without the Palin name? Not likely. That name is enough to qualify her as a star on Dancing with the Stars.
It was exciting watching Bristol’s first dance on the show’s premiere. As Carrie Ann Inaba said, “I thought you were going to be boring. I was so wrong.”
Bristol started the show with a vow that she would wear “the most modest outfits.” And even though Bristol stripped to a sexy red dress, the dress didn’t expose cleavage or her stomach. If Bristol is a Pistol, she certainly fired bullets that night. She showed enthusiasm and energy, and it was exciting to wait and see what Bristol would do next.
Said Bristol, “I think that people out there have seen me out there improving each week.” ” They’ve seen the transformation of me as a performer and a dancer. That’s why we’re still here,” she went on to say.
Yes, Bristol has transformed, but enough to still be in the competition? The judges continue to place Bristol and Mark at the bottom of the leaderboard due to Bristol’s stage presence. She gets the footwork right, most of the time, but there’s that detached look and lack of energy that gets in the way all the time.
Will Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars win it all?
David Hasselhoff, Michael Bolton, Mike Sorrentino – there’s a consensus that these celebrities aren’t great dancers. But the problem became highly apparent when good dancers Audrina Patridge and Rick Fox were eliminated. Perhaps Margaret Cho, Florence Henderson and Kurt Warner should be gone, but Audrina Patridge and Rick Fox should not.
Since Bristol Palin has successfully passed elimination each week, we can bet that Kyle Massey is next. Kyle Massey is a better dancer than Bristol, but sometimes he can be a Bristol Palin in reverse – lots of stage presence, but he doesn’t always get the footwork right.
Once he is eliminated, that leaves Brandy and Jennifer Grey. Will Bristol Palin beat out Brandy and Jennifer Grey to win it all?
“I think people always focus on how far we’ve gotten in this competition because of my mom and all of this B.S., when really it could work the opposite way,” said Bristol.
But the thing is, all of that “B.S.” hasn’t worked in the opposite way. Bristol is in the semi-finals and may win it all.
A number of people have claimed they won’t watch Dancing with the Stars if Bristol wins. If Bristol wins it all, It will send a clear message, clearer than ever before, that DWTS is not about how well you dance. Should the producers of Dancing with the Stars be worried?
Said one commenter, “The risk of losing future credibility and viewership if Bristol wins is too high.”
Or is it?
