Bristol Palin’s Dancing With the Stars success has placed her in the final three couples. The Nov. 22 Dancing With the Stars episode now gives Bristol Palin the chance to be the winning celebrity this season; something that has been met with mixed reactions from fans who watch the show every week. Despite the judges regularly placing Palin and partner Mark Ballas at the bottom of the performance show leaderboards, fan support as been extremely positive for the couple. Now Palin and Ballas could possibly hoist the trophy in the season finale.
It has definitely been an interesting season of Dancing With the Stars, and the 2010 installment has not been short on entertainment value. Twelve couples started out the season back in September, and now a combination of judges’ scores and fan voting have whittled the competition down to its final three couples. Some of the highest scoring couples (according to the judges) have fallen to the side, and now fans of the show have dictated which couples will be dancing on the Nov. 22 season finale to try and win the whole season. It certainly has kept this season from being predictable, even from someone who has watched the show since its creation.
There are several different ways to look at the success of Bristol Palin’s run, and how she has advanced through nine rounds of the competition already. There is of course a segment of the Dancing With the Stars viewership who can’t believe she is in the finals; feeling that it is unfair that she is in the finals when better dancers have been sent home in the past few weeks. Some have even stated that she is just getting votes because her mother is Sarah Palin, and that this reality competition show has turned into a political statement rather than a reality show.
The other side of that is the consideration that Bristol has quite a fan base around the country, and they have really enjoyed watching her on the show. Even if she isn’t the best dancer on that stage every night, many viewers have fallen in love with her personality and how far she has evolved as a dancer this season. She is much better than she was in the first week of the season, and it is very obvious how much she has improved. With no dancing back-ground to speak of, that is a pretty impressive accomplishment for Palin. It is also something that the voting audience has noticed.
After the Nov. 16 elimination, we now know the three couples who will be performing in the finals: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer, and Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas. Can Bristol and Mark win the show?
You will have to tune in to find that out, and it’s exactly what the producers of ABC have been hoping for all along. The 2010 season of is No. 1 in ratings for non-sports television shows this fall, and the ratings for the season finale are expected to be pretty good as well.
