Do you have a pair of broken prescription glasses that you can’t seem to find a way to fix? You are not the only one. Glasses can get very expensive to replace, especially if you have a very strong deficiency to correct. If you have asked if an establishment can fix your glasses and were told no, then you were probably dreading the fact that you were going to have to come up with a couple hundred to replace your broken ones. Well, have no fear because there is a way that you can keep your glasses alive and you will only have to pay one dollar for it.
Okay, here is what you need to do. Go to the dollar store in your area and get a dollar pair of glasses that you like. You will find all different kinds of lens shapes, but make sure that you get one that is larger than your broken pair of glasses. When you get home carefully remove the lenses in the dollar store frames and set them aside. You can use these for craft items or simply throw them away.
Take your old glasses and remove the side pieces. Use a small screw driver and take both of them off the lens part of the glasses. You will need to find an old electrical wire and remove the black coating from it. Take the copper colored wires from it and cut them at approximately 2 inches long.
Place your old lens inside the dollar store frames and use the copper wire to attach on both sides of the bridge for the nose and on the sides of the frame. You need to wire tightly to attach the old lens to the new frame. Then, you will need to take the nose guards on the dollar store frame and bend them back.
This whole process will take less than an hour and save you a couple hundreds of dollars. You will also like the look of your new glasses, as they will be different, yet attractive. It is worth the small effort that you will need to do, so take the time to create your own new pair of glasses. You will find it to be well worth the work and you will like your new glasses, too. It is just one great feeling to get things done without spending a small fortune.
