California Baby Super Sensitive No Fragrance Everyday Lotion

by bog bit

All natural personal care products have long been items that I have yearned for. Luckily there is actually quite a few natural skin care products on the market for babies today than there was 28 years ago when my daughter was born.

My 10 day old grand daughter has very dry skin. Her pediatrician said the dry skin on her belly would come off with her bath washings, and we also read that you should not apply any lotion to the hands and feet of a newborn baby. I was concerned about dry patches on her face, and found a very nice, all natural lotion at our local Target store, sold in the baby section.

The lotion that was so impressive to me is California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion. It was expensive, retailing for almost ten dollars for a small 6.5 ounce bottle, but it was the only natural lotion I could find that was made specifically for baby’s.

California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion has no added fragrance, and the company claims it is safe, natural and fun. I love the fact that the aloe vera used in this formula is organic. California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion is made for babies, kids and sensitive adults.

Although this lotion has no added fragrance, that does not mean that it is fragrance free, it does have an odd odor, one of which I am not particularly fond. The label states California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion is free of common allergens, that it is not tested on animals, contains no animal ingredients, is eco-friendly and biodegradable, and is made in the U.S.A.

I have used this lotion on my own hands, and it pumps out easily, giving me just the right amount of lotion so I don’t waste it. It is thick and off white in color, and feels very smooth and creamy, with a nice rich consistency. It can be used on both the face and the body. The pump style cap does lock in place if you wish to travel with the lotion.

The label on the back of the container states that California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion contains no gluten, soy, oat, dairy, or nuts, which are all common allergens. No chemicals were used to extract the cold pressed vegan oils in this lotion, making it a very high quality product.

While I am not crazy about the scent, I like how this lotion is not at all greasy or oily feeling, and it absorbs into both my hands and our newborns tender skin very easily and quickly. The ingredients (as taken from my bottle) read: Water Purified, Capric/Caprylic Stearic Triglyceride, Hi-olec Safflower Oil (organic or sustainable), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice (organic or sustainable), Calendula (Calendula Officinalis) Flower (organic or sustainable), Yucca (organic or sustainable), Cactus (organic or sustainable), Acacia (organic or sustainable), Irish Moss (organic or sustainable), Vitamin E.

Looking at many of these ingredients, I see there are healing and nourishing ingredients, such as aloe vera, calendula and vitamin E. I would choose those healing ingredients any day over a product that contains parabens, sodium laureth sulfates, petroleum based ingredients and others that I would prefer not to use on my own skin, say nothing about the tender skin of a newborn baby. I would gladly spend the ten dollars to buy another container of this lotion.
