Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is one of the most famous games of the last decade. Released on November 5, 2007, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and is still widely played online and off. The game itself packs a bunch of real life weapons. Each weapon is placed into a classification, Assault rifle, Submachine gun, Light Machine gun, Shotgun and Sniper. The focus of this article will be to provide in-depth information about each and every assault rifle in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Information such as recoil, damage, bullet penetration, rate of fire, bullet clip, level unlocked, and other specific information on the gun in game and in real life.
In single player, the M16A4 is sporadically dropped by downed Marines. It features automatic fire, whereas online, it’s a 3-round burst. The M16A4 is available for use online at level 1. Like all assault rifles, its starts out with iron sights, unlocking red dot at 25 kills, silencer at 75 and ACOG scope at 150. The rate of fire of the M16A4 is rather slow due to its 3-round burst limitation, forcing a pause between bursts. M16A4 is widely considered the best gun in the game and the most overpowered due to its point click and kill nature. With stopping power, if all 3 bullets from the burst hit their target, it’s a kill. At short range with stopping power, only two bullets are needed. The ability to kill with one click of a button makes this gun one of the fastest killers in the game. The maximum ammunition the M16A4 can hold is 180 in multiplayer. The M16A4 packs a 30 bullet clip, allowing you to put 10 bursts down range before having to reload. The United States Marine Corp uses the M16A4. Lack of recoil and high power make the M16A4 the most popular and most used assault rifle in the game.
Available in single player and multiplayer. The M4A1 is used by the United States Marine Corp and the Special Air Services. It packs a 30 round magazine, much like its cousin the M16A4. It also has a maximum of 180 bullets in online multiplayer. The M4A1 has little recoil, low damage per shot and a fast rate of fire, it is also automatic. What makes the M4A1 a great gun to use is the fact that it is very affective at all ranges, shares ammo with the M16 and G36C, meaning that you can pick up dropped guns and add ammo to the M4A1, its got barely any recoil and is very easy to use. Unlocked at level 10, it is a very commonly used weapon.
In single player, the Ak-47 is widely used by the Loyalists, Opposing Forces and the Ultranationalists. In online multiplayer in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, the AK-47 is limited by attachments which drop its minimum damage. It’s best used without any attachments so it can retain its high power. The AK-47 is available from the start of Multiplayer, it has a standard 30 round clip and 180 maximum bullets, its automatic and has medium recoil. The AK-47 is one of the most famous assault rifles in history and is widely used around the globe. The AK-47 is the only assault rifle that can have golden camouflage in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare.
In single player, it is one of the most powerful weapons, killing in one shot no matter what body part is impacted. In multiplayer, it is semi-automatic while in single player, it is automatic. The OpFor and the Ultranationalists use the G3 in the campaign. Online, it is unlocked at level 25; it has a clip size of 20 rounds and a max ammo capacity of 120. It is one of the most accurate of the Assault rifles with little recoil and high damage, making it comparable to the AK-47 but as accurate as a G36C. A glitch still exists in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare where the melee attack is slowed to over a second if attempted with a silenced G3. This glitch was never addressed by Infinity Ward, Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare’s developer.
The G36C is unlocked at level 37 in online multiplayer; it packs a 30 round clip with 180 being the maximum amount of ammo it can start with. Its damage is equivalent to the M4A1, it has low recoil and a rather slow rate of fire. It is fully automatic in both multiplayer and single player and is used by the Loyalists, Ultranationalists and Special Air Services in single player.
The M14 is unique because it does not appear in single player. The M14 has really high power, allowing for one hit headshots and two hit kills with stopping power. Its high power compensates for the high recoil and semi-automatic nature. The M14 packs 20 rounds per clip with a 120 being the max ammunition it can hold.
An old school weapon, the MP44 makes an appearance in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare even though its WWII weapon and not very “modern”. It is not available for use in single player. The MP44 is unlocked at level 52, making it a weapon that is rarely seen or used. It packs high power with high recoil and a fast rate of fire. It is the only assault rifle that does not take attachments. It’s got the standard 30 bullet clip with max ammunition of 180. Unlike all the other assault rifles, it has no idle sway making it very accurate.
Well there you have it, all seven of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare’s assault rifles. Each has its own niche, its pros and cons. Some appear in single player, some do not. All seven are weapons that have been used in real life. All in all, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare does a great job replicating all seven assault rifles and their pros and cons.
