Camp Winnaribbun, which is found on Lake Tahoe’s southern shore, offers a unique experience for dog owners. At this summer camp the motto is “Dogs and their people are invited to come together for action-packed and fun-filled weeks of canine celebration.” That is right, Camp Winnaribbun is a camp for dogs and their owners, so if you are looking for something to do with your dog, this just might be the right place.
Activities offered at a camp are always what sets it apart from other camps. This is no different for looking for the perfect camp for you and your dog than it would be if you are looking for a camp for your child to attend. What is offered at one camp site may not be the activities you are looking for to share with your dog. At Camp Winnaribbun, guests and their owners can expect to take part in many activities including training in obedience, herding, agility, tracking and even freestyle. There is also carting, flyball and disc as well as nature hikes, swimming and canoeing. The guests owners will have the opportunity to learn more about psychocybernetics which is using positive mind power to control your dog, homeopathy, canine massage therapy and canine first aide.
The facilities that a camp has is another important aspect of the choice to be made by the dog’s owner. These facilities range quite a bit from rustic cabins with no electricity to more modern, private, suite-type facilities. What does Camp Winnaribbun offer its campers? The accommodations offered by this camp are rustic cabins set up dormitory style with bunk beds. There is electricity in these facilities as well as restroom facilities that are coed.
What Campers Should Bring
Campers who choose to go to Camp Winnaribbun will need to bring the right items to make their stay more enjoyable. This does not mean bring everything in your house including the kitchen sink though! Campers will need to bring bedding (including pillows), towels and toiletries. They will also need to bring dog food and bedding for their dog as well as a crate or x-pen if they believe they need them to make their dog more comfortable.
Camp Winnaribbun generally offers three sessions Swing Into Summer, Summer Days and Summer Camp. Each session offers the basic activities such as obedience, psycho cybernetics, agility, freestyle, lure coursing, crafts, health, hiking and more. Summer Days and Summer Camp also offer more activities.
