Can the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers tonight? The Lakers have been whipping opponents. In fact Coach Phil Jackson was able to rest his starters after only three quarters in their last game. It was against the Golden State Warriors and they led them after three quarters 95-60. They ultimately beat them 117-89 and that was with reserves. The Bulls have had their problems with the Lakers losing their last four to them in L.A. and have lost six straight overall.
An article has been posted on the Chicago Bulls’ website titled “Game Notes: Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers 9:30 p.m. This is posted in the “My Bulls” section.
The Chicago Bulls are currently in second place with a 7-4 record in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics but are in first place in the Central Division. The Los Angeles Lakers are 12-2 in the Western Conference and in first place. In the last four wins they have won with an average of about 17 points. In other words they are playing “crazy-good.”
The Chicago Bulls have been playing very well themselves and have won five out of their last six. They have been keeping their opponents under 100 points; they have been playing very good defense.
In fact that was one of the reasons that Phil Jackson sat his starters in the last game against the Warriors. He knows that they are going to play against a pumped-up team in the Bulls this evening.
Quietly the Bulls have been developing a great team. Derrick Rose is arguably one of the best players and ball handlers in the League. Joakim Noah is a great forward-center and plays with about as much energy as anyone.
I don’t think the Bulls will beat the Lakers this evening. The Bulls have been improving every game but I think that right now the Lakers are a cut above them. I think that when the two teams meet in Chicago that the Bulls will beat them (all things remaining equal).
The Bulls barring injury will have a good season. In fact I think they are going to have a great season. Boston and the Lakers I think are the teams to beat. As far as Miami I think they will beat themselves up.
