She just gave birth to two healthy twin boys, and now Celine Dion and her husband have settled on the name issue.
The “My Heart Will Go On” songstress had told press she’d been “going a little bit crazy trying to decide” on proper names for her boys, and finally looked to the men who have inspired her for their names.
Celine and her husband Rene Angelil came to agreement on the names Eddy and Nelson and they couldn’t be happier with their selections.
Eddy is named after Eddy Marnay, the man who produced Dion’s first five albums. Nelson is named for Nelson Mandela. “René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” said their rep.
“Céline and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men.”
Following the joyous arrival of her sons, Celine Dion also revealed a sad misfortune about her pregnancy.
During a Quebec TV interview taped 10 days before she gave birth, the singer admitted that she was originally carrying triplets, not twins.
Explaining that the heart of the third fetus stopped beating soon after she learned of the pregnancy, Celine told, “He chose to let go to give space to his brothers to grow.”
Counting their lucky stars to have welcomed Eddy and Nelson into this world last Saturday, Dion’s hubby, Rene Angelil, told press, “We were both thinking about the time it took. We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys.”
