I know absolutely nothing about technology. I can adapt and will learn the way to maneuver through computers and cell phones, ereaders and the works, but only after bugging my three sons until they are ready to relent and finally submit to my whims. Therefore, not having the aptitude they have with these new and more than modern computers and other advancements in the new wave of the Internet and its computerized world, I refrain from writing reviews of iphones, ereaders, ipads and the works. However, once in a blue moon, one of my sons will use my funds to purchase an item that amazes me.
So it was with the new phone my youngest son recently purchased. The Sprint HTC EVO 4G simply put does everything but cook a meal and place it on the table. As with all their new toys, my sons like to show me the features and what they do. Never considering the fact that I am not interested or might not have the slightest idea what language they are speaking. Even so, I was intrigued when I found that on this phone, there is a flashlight that actually takes on the 3D dimensional version of the old regular store bought flashlight. But unlike the store version, the light is intensified over three or four times on this phone. So, when the power goes off late at night as it so often does in my area, I can use the phone to find my candles and other lighting products necessary to get around.
Now I know that might not impress the younger generation but those of us in our forties and older years find conveniences of this type exciting to say the least.
Large Screen – When you sight seems to wane and you find yourself using every fathom of your eyes available to see the little letters displayed in the small screens on your phones, you will be amazed at the dimensions on this beauty. With a 4.3″ screen, there is no problem seeing the many features, words and symbols needed to manipulate through and use the HTC EVO 4G.
Digital Compass and GPS – Find yourself lost! Don’t worry, all you have to do is use the digital compass, determine where you are and then enter your desired destination in your GPS. Never again worry about not being able to find your way home. As long as the phone is in your pocket or purse, you’re okay. And remember, men hate to ask for directions. make sure there is no need to ask or become frustrated whe ‘he’ will not ask. Place the phone in your purse and feel safe and secure when he refuses to admit he is lost.
Long Life Battery – Do you hate to remember to charge up your battery? When you need it the most, your phone beeps “low battery” and you know within seconds your phone is gone? Just remember to charge the 4G once a month and with the 1500 mAH battery, you can feel secure with no worries about missing calls. With our limited phone activity, at mature ages, we never stay on our phones long. If you’re anything like me, you answer a call, finish the conversation in a couple of seconds and that’s it. No lengthy conversations held the entire time you are driving or commuting.
Dual Camera Interface – Not one, but two cameras. Enjoy snapping picture when you like from your phone. Then, when its necessary, have your second camera available in case of emergency like for instance if someone hits you from behind and runs.
Proximity and Motion Sensors – This application reads electro magnetic fields. For example, if your phone is removed while you have it in the holster, on your belt or even on the handle of your purse, the sensor works to detect when the phone is in or out of the holster. You might find this an advantage if someone decides to remove your phone or perhaps you drop it or leave it lying around. Sorry, but the sensor does not detect if someone is moving into your personal space unannounced and maybe even with ulterior motives. However, with advances in technology being announced at light second speed, it might not be unreasonable or unimaginable to soon see something of this nature available in the very near future.
