Charles Patrick Mottram Memorial Fund is watched over carefully by a group calling themselves “Charlie’s Angels”. They want to honor the memory of Charlie, a Respiratory Therapist who wanted to make a difference. He lived his 22 years of life to the fullest and was confident that he could change at least one small part of this world. His friends want to make sure his dream is fulfilled. They say it’s all about The Dash (by Linda Ellis) and that Charlie made the most of his (1988-2010). To help them raise $10,000 and honor Charlie with a scholarship that will be a permanent endowment at Edison State College, just visit Chile’s in Fort Myers (College Parkway, 239-481-7730) or Cape Coral (1760 N.E. Pine Island Road, 239-242-8724). Take a flyer with you and Charles Patrick Mottram Memorial Fund will get 10% of the sale…eat-in or take-out today, Monday, October 18, 2010. They are also selling charms, candy, and wrist bands (available today at Chile’s).
Enjoy working in the yard? Our Mother’s Home has a yard with beautiful plants that are in need of some tender loving care, including weeding, mulching, and weekly watering. Local licensed business people (air conditioning, electric, appliances) who would like to give back to the community are also in great need. Our Mother’s Home relies very heavily on volunteers and donations to keep its doors open so foster teen mothers and their babies can stay together while the mother continues her education and learns how to become a better parent and break the foster care cycle. The office would also be very happy to have some much-needed help with answering telephones, filing, cleaning, and organization.
It’s that time of year again for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The walk this year will be Saturday, October 23, at Tanger Outlet Mall (20350 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers, Florida 33908). I hope many of you will join me there. Please introduce yourself and tell me your story if you recognize me from my photo on here. I will be walking with the Head Start team. I personally have not had breast cancer touch my loved ones but cancer in many other forms has affected my family and friends. My sister and I try to walk each year to raise awareness and the eventual cure of this disease. She won’t be able to make it this year but would be very pleased if you can walk for her. Her big heart will certainly be there. If you are unable to join us but would still like to help, please pull up our Head Start site and make a donation. No amount is too small and our little team has a late start on getting donations in so we would greatly appreciate your help.
Have a great day and continue your life remembering that it’s all about The Dash (by Linda Ellis).
