With the upcoming 2010 November elections facing the people in less than two weeks, Florida Governor and Independent Party Candidate Charlie Crist has appeared on many occasions to change his political position and moral stance about as much as a chameleon changes its skin.
What is the position of Independent political party candidate and Senate hopeful Charlie Crist? Who really knows nowadays, as Crist has continually flip-flopped, changing his political and moral views regarding all to important and controversial issues such as the Health Care Reform Bill, Florida’s Abortion Bill, as well as that of Gay Adoption Rights, each of which promises to grossly and negatively affect not only the state of Florida, but the majority of Americans by and large.
Governor Charlie Crist political aspirations of becoming the newly elected U.S. Senator for Florida would be like placing yet another lizard or chameleon in Washington and here is why. Much like how some of the chameleon species uses their skin color changing ability to blend in with their surroundings as an effective method or form of camouflage, so has this appeared to be the methodology of Independent candidate Crist who has constantly changed, shifted, and camouflaged his own opinions in order to sway a large percentage of Floridians in hopes of garnering votes any way he can.
First, let’s address U.S. Muslim President Barack Obama’s extremely controversial Health Care Reform Bill and Crist’s original position on it. The Florida Governor’s initial response, as a then self-professing Republican, concerning this enforced form of governmental medical care was verbalized as one of total opposition at the outset, his saying on Fox News in March, “I think what we need to do is go ahead and repeal this thing. Let’s start over. Let’s take the opportunity to do what’s right for the people.” However, Crist appears to change his position as witnessed during an interview with the Wall Street Journal on July 14th. However with the subsequent public outcry and outrage by health and medical insurance institutions as well as an intense disfavor by the majority of the American people, Crist appears to be now distancing and disconnecting himself from having an active voice where the governmental health bill is concerned.
With the Abortion Bill, Charlie Crist while claiming to be Pro-Life recently vetoed a bill which would have substantially hindered or curved the number of abortions taking place in the State of Florida. The purpose and focus of the Abortion Bill would have been to allow women considering abortions to have the opportunity to make an informed decision after carefully reviewing a medically performed ultrasound of their unborn child. However after losing Pro-Life support, once again we find Governor Crist making a 360 degree turn by now wooing and pledging his support to those who are Pro-Choice, stating he favors a woman’s right to choose by not overturning Roe vs. Wade, in direct contrast to his Republican opponent and candidate Marco Rubio.
Finally, we see a switch once again in Independent party Charlie Crist’s opinion and position surrounding that of Gay Adoption. Governor Crist praised a recent judicial decision to permit gay adoptions, while proposing to possibly lift Florida’s ban against gay’s ability and rights to adopt. Once again, Crist who in the beginning stood against allowing same sex couples the opportunity to adopt, appears to be doing a reversal as he cites his having experienced what he refers to as “an appropriate evolution” where gay rights are concerned. However, could this be yet another ploy on Crist’s part to likewise capture the votes of gays and that of gay right advocates?
It should be clearly evident to many Floridians and even Americans that Charlie Crist, the 2010 Independent Party Candidate running for the State U.S. Senatorial office, has continually camouflaged his own position to fit the particular circumstance as it best suits him and not Florida, and much like that of the chameleon. Lastly,
God states that a “double minded man is unstable in all of his ways,” and that we should have nothing to do with such a person – and Crist most definitely seems to fit the bill. Therefore, this isn’t the type of elected and governmental official that we, Floridians, should cast our vote for. So instead of voting PARTY this election year, it is high time for a CHANGE, and that is to decide to vote morality and biblical principles instead, because we need God Back in America Again!
