Chatter’s Cafe in Houston, Texas has been open since 2004 and is still going strong. Despite passing this restaurant on a regular basis, I never actually ate there so when I was looking for a place in the Houston Heights that delivered, Chatter’s appeared on the list. I had no idea what kind of cuisine they served but as luck would have it, they offered Mediterranean cuisine (along with many other dishes) and I love Mediterranean food. The best part is that I was able to place my order on-line through B4UEat.com.
For my appetizer I had the Bistro Tapas which comes with Grecian sauce, hummus, roasted eggplant and cannellini dip, kalamata olives, and stuffed grape leaves served with grilled pita bread. The pita bread was great and it made for a great way to try the hummus, Grecian sauce and eggplant dip. The hummus was different; it wasn’t like the thick hummus I’m used to. Instead, it had a thinner consistency and contained chopped tomatoes. It wasn’t my favorite hummus but I appreciated the fact that they went easy on the garlic.
The roasted eggplant dip was more like the inside of a roasted eggplant had been scooped and served rather than pureed. This too, came with chopped tomatoes and I didn’t see or taste the cannellini in the dip. My favorite sauce was the Grecian sauce which was like Tzatziki sauce (yogurt and cucumber). The stuffed grape leaves had a pleasant flavor inside but the vine leaves kept coming apart and the plethora of long vines ruined it for me.
I had the Aegean Grill for my main course which came with gyros, char broiled chicken breast, Mediterranean rice, Grecian sauce & vegetables. I have to say I was extremely impressed with the tenderness and juiciness of the meat. I don’t normally eat lamb but the gyros were so amazing that I couldn’t resist. The chicken was impressive as well. It’s hard to make chicken properly without drying it out but Chatter’s Café in Houston, Texas managed to do a great job. I loved the flavor of the Mediterranean rice and even the roasted vegetables were savory. The Aegean Grill also came with pita bread and a small Greek salad .
I would recommend Chatter’s Café in Houston, Texas for just about everyone and I love the fact that they deliver. I’ll definitely order from them again.
