One of the most fun things you can do with your family if you live in the Chattanooga area or are visiting in Chattanooga is to take in a day at the Chattanooga Zoo. Located near downtown in the heart of the district, parking is plentiful and easy. Since I live in the area, we have been able to visit on field trips and at other times.
I have been to both the Knoxville Zoo and Zoo Atlanta, and while these are superb, I personally prefer the Chattanooga Zoo. The scenery is beautiful and well-kept. There is a terrific gift shop and many places on the property to enjoy a family picnic. This would be a wonderful weekend autumn activity as the weather begins to cool off from an incredibly hot summer. The children-and the big children will absolutely love it.
The Chattanooga Zoo is open 9am – 5pm, everyday.
Closed: New Years Day, Christmas Day, and Thanksgiving Day.
Prices of Admission:
Adults : $8.00
Seniors (Ages 65 and over) : $6.00
Children (Ages 3 – 15) : $5.00
Kids Under Age 2 : FREE
Special group rates available and you can call for more details at (423) 697-1322.
There are also “Keeper Chats”. Every Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 and 4:00 pm, learn what it’s like to work with specific animals, directly from the keepers that work with them. It changes each week, so check with the front staff to see which animals are being featured! This is free with admission!
Want to have a zoo of a birthday party? They have a great birthday party plan so all your children’s friends can enjoy the zoo, too!
The Chattanooga Zoo has partnered with the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau to promote fun activities for families to do around the City during their school breaks.
It’s just $55.00 for a one year family membership! This will allow you admission at any time, and some discounts, as well. Receive newsletters and notices of special events. Become a member of the Chattanooga Zoo.
