The Chicago Bears head into Ford Field in Detroit to take on a well rested Detroit Lions defense that will be looking to feast on some Bears December 5th. Everyone has finally jumped on the Chicago Bears bandwagon after a big win over the best team in the NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles. There were rumors previous to the game that the Chicago Bears had slowed down the track for Michael Vick by over watering the field. It may not have needed it with the defensive speed of the Bears.
The Detroit Lions final score against the New England Patriots may have looked lopsided but they did give Tom Brady and company a scare before they finally kicked into gear in the second half. The game against the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving established that the Detroit Lions are a tough team to play at home and now they have ten days rest.

Jay Cutler and Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz should be feeling good about their strong performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now they will be playing on artificial turf in Ford Field and we will see if this offense can play as well on a fast track.
Jay Cutler received his best protection from the of the season Chicago Bears offensive line in this game but the running game is still not a complete success. Matt Forte busted off one big run and it skewed the rushing numbers. Forte’s 61 yard romp was one of his 14 rushes and the Chicago Bears 28 rushes. The Chicago Bears were averaging 99 yards on the ground per game and posted 131 yards in this game. Without the big run they were below their season average.
The Detroit Lions defense is strong up front with a complete transformation of their defensive line and they gave Tom Brady trouble most of the game on Thanksgiving. They are still giving up an average of 130 yards per game on the ground but through the air they have been among the better NFL teams allowing only 212 yards from opposing passers.
Ndamukong Suh and Kyle Vanden Bosch have been the reason for the resurgent defense but Vanden Bosch did leave the Thanksgiving game with an injury. The Detroit Lions defense has the edge over the Chicago Bears offense.

Shaun Hill has been a pleasant surprise for the Detroit Lions but now he will face a hard hitting and unforgiving defense in he Chicago Bears. There are ways to beat this Chicago Bears defense but the Detroit Lions may not have much of a chance in this game. Their best weapon is Calvin Johnson over the top but Shaun Hill will need to have enough time in the pocket to get the deep ball to him.
The running game has not been there for the Detroit Lions. Jahvid Best started the season well but since the first few weeks of the season it has been a tough go for the running attack of the Detroit Lions. On the ground the Detroit Lions are only averaging 80 yards per game and the Chicago Bears are limiting teams to 78 yards per game.
The Chicago Bears front seven may be the best in the NFL at this moment. Things change in the NFL at the drop of a hat but Julius Peppers and the linebacker duo of Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs were at their best against Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. Julius Peppers is so fast that he actually caught Vick from behind for one tackle. The Chicago Bears defense has the edge over the Detroit Lions offense.
