The 80’s have become popular again. Such classic 80’s characters like Care Bears, G.I. Joe, Smurfs, and others have been making a comeback. The 70’s have gotten let behind and almost forgotten. However if you miss the 70’s or would have liked to have been around in the 70’s then there is still hope for you yet. You can still enjoy the 70’s if you go to Chicago’s Kitsch’n.
There are two Chicago Kitsch’n and they are located at 600 West Chicago Avenue, and 2005 West Roscoe Street both in Chicago Illinois. Kitsch’n is themed to the 70’s with all kinds of 70’s memorabilia on the walls. The menus are also in a 70’s style. The decor is one reason that Kitsch’n is so popular. However the decor is not the only reason so many people enjoy going to Kitsch’n.
Many theme restaurants do a good job at the theme but not the food. Kitsch’n is not like that.I can’t figure out what makes 70’s food other then some items like phat-jacks having 70’s slang terms. They have both traditional fare as well as the unusual. An example of the odd is the fried chicken and waffles. While that may not sound like something you want one thing I have found is that while the more original food is a hit or miss depending on personal taste there is likely a few foods that are unusual that you will want to try.
One of Kitsch’n big times is their brunch. While I am not a fan of the 70’s or the theme the food is good. If you like the theme then this place has everything. If you are not adventurous there is plenty of traditional favorites on the menu here you will like.
Overall the theme is down well but I think is a weak theme. I think that lots of other themed restaurants have better themes. However the food is good and that is what matters. I also like that while they have some traditional foods they have not just one main unique dish but many unique dishes to try. If you are in Chicago I would recommend trying Kitsch’n.
