For a unique and fun way to add style to your child’s bedroom or play room, consider this lime stars play table project. Purchase a small unfinished wooden table at a local home improvement store. Or, consider repurposing an existing play table into this new design.
For this project, you will need:
– One small wooden table in good condition
– Unfinished wooden star cutouts (available at craft supply stores)
– Medium or fine grit sandpaper
– Tack cloth or other style soft cloth
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ivy Leaf
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Purple
– Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray
– Epoxy glue
– Newsprint and/or a large drop cloth
Before beginning this play table project, make sure your existing table is free from any paints or stains. If not, use a bit of paint thinner and/or paint stripper according to manufacturer directions prior to starting. Cover the area in which you will be creating this finished project with newsprint sheets and/or a large sized drop cloth.
Carefully sand the outside of the play table using a few sheets of medium or fine grit sandpaper. Wipe down the outside of the wood with a tack cloth or other style soft cloth. Prime then entire table using a light coat of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Once the primer has dried completely, paint the table with five to seven layers of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Purple. Let the table dry for several hours before continuing.
Lightly sand the wooden star cutouts in the same fashion that the play table was sanded. Again, wipe away any dust created by the sanding process with a cloth. Prime both sides of each star shaped cutout using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. When the primer is completely dry, paint both sides of each star shape using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ivy Leaf. Dry overnight.
Apply a thick amount of epoxy glue to the back of one star shaped cutout. Adhere the cutout onto the purple painted play table, where desired. Keep adding the green painted stars until you are satisfied with the number of cutouts on the table. Once the epoxy glue has dried completely, enjoy your new creation.
TIP: For a little girl’s bedroom, consider Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Watermelon for the base instead of purple.
