Perfect World Entertainment’s MMORPG Forsaken World offers eight classes over a spread of five different races*. Each class has its own style of play, including special mechanics. The race a player chooses will influence some of their abilities and talents as well, so that even a Human and Elf Priest will not play exactly the same way. Specializations in talent trees become available at level 20, and a talent point is gained every level.
Warrior (Humans, Elves)
“A Warrior’s decisiveness and mastery of tactics can bolster the group’s morale, often deciding the outcome of the battle.”
The Warrior is a strong-armed, two-handed fighter specializing in offense, although they may also specialize as defensive tanks. Tenacity warriors are specialized as tanks, capable of increasing their defense and offering a health buff for their party, as well as offering crucial debuffs against their foes. Warriors specialized in Bloodlust focus on bleeds and furious attacks meant to cripple their foes. Rage warriors focus on swift attacks and countering their enemies movements.
“Their rock-hard determination and immense fortitude ensures a group shall never fear defeat as long as their Protector stands.”
The Protector is mainly a tank, designed to withstand terrible blows and keep their party alive by holding threat. Protectors specialized in Outer Crust use Earth-based attacks, and are able to lower their enemy’s Earth resistance as well as issue powerful stuns. Shine Protectors use Light attacks, and are more evasive with a chance of becoming momentarily invincible. Protectors who go down the Protect tree have a unique frontal-cone attack and a mass taunt, making them kings in group situations.
Assassin (Kindred, Humans)
“The Assassins have followed an ancient creed, ‘Arrive without a trace and depart without a shadow.'”
The Assassin is a class focused on powerful attacks while using stealth. Venom Assassins kill their enemies by delivering Agony, a special orb system which devastates the enemy with powerful unleashed attacks. Assassins specialized in the Edge tree use Blast orbs, and specialize in silences and critical strikes. Shadow Assassins put extra emphasis on their stealth abilities, increasing their speed. They may also sacrifice their own health to become immune to control effects for a brief period of time.
“With a steady finger and an even steadier will, the Marksman prefers to take out enemies from a distance.”
Marksmen are specialists in using the technology of guns and bombs from afar. Snipers may cause their targets to bleed and quickly reduce their hit points, as well as offer an attack power buff to their party. Marksmen who focus in Control gain shots that burn the target’s mana, and make significant improvements to their Soul Shot. Bombardiers gain powerful exploding shots, and may attack in a frontal cone.
Mage (Kindred, Humans)
“Those who would oppose a Mage will have to contend with the destructive power of the earthly elements.”
The Mage is a master of elemental magic. A mage specialized in Fire can reduce a target’s armor and resistances, as well as summon a Flame of Fury on their nearby foes. Lightning specialized mages may remove buffs and interrupt a target, and steal mana away from their targets. Mages who prefer Frost may freeze their enemies or slow them.
Priest (Humans, Elves)
“Through their indomitable faith, Priests keep their group members fighting where otherwise they’d have long fallen.”
A priest’s primary duty is healing their party members, but they also gain powerful offensive abilities. Divinity-specialized priests gain instant heals and absorption shields. Priests who go down the Chasten tree boost their offensive Light spells. Mind priests instead use water and frost based spells and may interrupt their targets.
“The descendants of the Vampire King are very mysterious, often not showing their hidden motives until an opportune moment, often turning the battle in their favor.”
Vampires are a unique offensive class available only to Kindred. A Blood Vampire drains blood from their victims, and may even grant healing to their allies. Dark Vampires have a greater chance to transform into their Vampiric state, and may sacrifice their health to slow or damage their target. Vampires who prefer Blaze specialization focus their power on curses, and gain the ability to transform into an Inferno Bat, a blazing bat specialized in fire attacks.
“Bards travel the world with their harps, singing about the deeds of great heroes all over the land.”
Bards are singers, and their abilities carry notes as they are used. Bards can string these notes together to automatically unleash powerful buffs and other bonuses for themselves and their group. Bards who prefer Wind talents can specialize in enhancing speed and removing slows. Water bards focus on water-based attacks, including building their defense. Bards specializing in Light will gain the ability to resurrect and heal their allies.
