Looking to create Funnel Cakes in a jar for a Christmas gift? I have a great recipe for you and it only takes a few dollars to make it. You can have less than $5 in the entire gift. Especially if you are making more than one jar because the ingredients will create a few jars, and most of the ingredients are laying around your kitchen. For a nice funnel cake recipe for Gifts in a Jar, see the recipe below.
Ingredients to Place in the Jar:
For the jar, you will need the ingredients below. Using a quart jar for the funnel cakes would probably be best.
2 C of All Purpose Flour
1 tsp of Cinnamon
½ tsp of Salt
2 tsp of Baking Powder
Mix the above ingredients and place them in a dry, clean jar. Then create the tag for the jar using the information below. You can reword the instructions if you would like.
Ingredients Needed After Removing the Ingredients from the Jar
1 ½ C of Milk
2 C of the Funnel Cake Mix from the Jar
Mix all of the ingredients. Use a funnel or ziplock bag to pour your batter into a frying pan with heated oil. One minute on each side should do it. Make sure it is golden brown before doing your first flip. Remove from frying pan and place on a paper plate, or plate with paper towels. Then top with your favorite topping. Can be topped with cherries, apples, blueberries, powdered sugar, or anything else you want.
You may want to put the 2 cups of Funnel Cake Mix in bold letters, or tell the person you are giving it to. Stress the fact that you only use one cup of batter from the jar. Most recipes call for the entire jar of ingredients when you are using Gifts in a Jar, so this is something you may want to stress. If they use the entire jar, it will go all wrong.
If the person does not have a funnel, they can use a ziplock bag. Simply place the batter in the bag and cut one of the corners off. Then pour the batter in the frying pan from the corner of the bag.
