One more week to go and like a 6 year old in perpetual excitement over Santa coming, I can hardly sleep in anticipation. Will the first half of our national nightmare end by midnight next Tuesday? Polls would indicate indeed so. Which brings me to another point. This morning’s news highlights the chairmen of both parties, Tim Kaine for Democrats and Michael Steele for Republicans, both predicting wins for their respective parties.
I get the point of cheerleading and pepping up the crowd, but Kaine’s blatant refusal to acknowledge the facts constant polling reveals, seems irresponsible. Do they actually play the game where they say “rah, rah, rah” up to the moment of the election results? Then will come my favorite part, the recriminations and justifications.
Do political parties and their big wigs actually deny the empirical evidence so blatantly displayed for them and the entire nation? Does this seem responsible or mature? Does anyone actually believe such denials are really helping?
Cheerleading is for sports. It seems completely misguided in national politics, especially when the stakes are so damned high. When the Republican debacle lay itself out for all to see in 2008, I hoped for a different outcome, but I knew what would be the actual result. Did the cheerleading harm the effort? No, but it did not help at all in coming to grips with the hows and whys. This is where the recriminations, etc., pop up.
Instead of the losers accepting the empirical evidence, they deny the words of voters, who in exit polls often reveal why they voted as they did. Polls will reveal trends as to why Joe Voter cast his ballot as he did, and the lip service from the party leaders will, if history is any guide, not reflect the voters true reasons.
Democrats are not going to suffer catastrophic losses on the second because the voters are bored, busy, the weather is bad somewhere, or general apathy. The loss will be because of the way Democrats led when they held all the power. Democrat voters are not idiots. They know the health reform was passed on a series of lies they chose to accept for their ideological wishes. Democrats can claim Republicans blocked things, but the truth is that is a total and blatant lie. Dems hold big majorities in BOTH House and Senate so any blame for bad legislation is theirs alone as is any blame for the failing of the Democrat caucus to pass legislation they advocated for.
The coming Democrat debacle will be due to a loss of voter support, not failure to turn out. Democrat voters will not be turning out in the needed numbers to keep Democrat majorities because even if they can’t admit it, they know what Democrats have done since the Obama Nightmare began. “Lower costs?” Nope, they are skyrocketing! “More choice?” Please! It is obvious if Obamacare were to live, most insurance carriers would go out of business as we have known it traditionally.
The Wall Street Financial reform is a crock too! It is not a “no more bailouts in future” piece of legislation at all, but is instead the long hoped for by progressives, hamstringing of markets. Most Democrat voters are not progressives. They will accept progressives voting Democrat to see their power increased, but when progressives get to putting in their own remedies even Democrats know this isn’t a good thing.
The car company takeovers were exceptionally problematic. How is it union benefits and pensions are guaranteed but rank and file stockholders are given pennies on the dollar? Did progressives actually believe stock holders were okay with this?
Lemme explain the whole deal like this. Progressives, and I mean the really hard liners, are all for the “revolution” of installing progressivism. The hard line progressive revolutionaries are okay with the deprivation of the revolution. Rank and file voters are not down with that. Democrat support for progressive legislation was short-lived. They are all for the rhetoric and rah, rah, rah, but where the rubber meets the road and stockholders are given pennies and the unions get guarantees in perpetuity, average folks can see what that is – blood money for future union support – nothing more!
No matter how many talking points progressives forward, their legislation does not only punish Republicans. It punishes everyone, but as I said, revolutionaries know that going in and are fine with it. Democrats were sold the nonsense as if they would be beneficiaries too, but reality proves all rank and file citizens are equally hurt.
Who wants to bet there are as many Democrats with GM & Chrysler stock as there were Republicans? See my point here? Democrats, who before the fact were all for it, were suddenly placed in the group of folks seeing their investments slammed, and all for the sake of Democrats securing future UAW support. See how what looks good on paper is often not when it transfers from paper to the lives of real people of all political ideologies?
To put a finer point on it, during revolutions the revolutionaries all have power, but when the revolution ends, what happens? Only the big wigs still have power, thus benefited from the revolution, but the former revolutionary, who had power and prestige during the struggle is now back to being a regular Joe. The now regular Joe is harmed as bad as those who were completely against the revolution in the first place. The only ones who actually benefit from revolution are the leaders who have positioned themselves cause they knew all along what the real outcome would look like.
Take Cap & Trade, which thankfully we’ve thus far staved off. Will Joe Democrat benefit from a passage of Cap & Trade, or will the leaders, who invested in Carbon Exchanges and green tech be the ones who make money? The rank and file Joe Democrat will pay the EXACT SAME increases as the non-Democrat, so did the Democrat rank and file cat get anything out of it? Nope! In fact they are harmed, but their leaders will make a fortune. Can you say Al Gore? Will the rank and file Joe Democrat pay lower energy costs because he supported the legislation? Nope! They will pay the same price and suffer the same as the non-supporter.
Can one now see where the bloom falls off the rose? With all this in mind, will Democrat leadership admit the problem, or will they claim it was evil Tea Parties poisoning the minds of stupid voters? Remember, Obama thinks it’s cause voter’s just are not smart enough to grasp his highly enlighten nuance. We’ve read the stories in the NY Times and Post about how “DC is failing Obama, not Obama failing DC.” (paraphrased) Is anyone OTHER THAN a progressive buying that one? Are such characterizations anything more than justification for a severe political rejection? Do “justifications” win elections? Not usually they don’t.
I would ask reader’s to recall my post 2008 election articles. I did not justify the loss, did I? I dealt with the actual problems and the actual remedies. I am not claiming some soothsayer ability or that anyone of import actually read a word I wrote, but I was dead on right in those 2 dozen or so articles. Remember anyone?
I said real conservatism was needed. That to be “Democrat Lite” was to hand elections to real Democrats because if one has a choice between a real Democrat and a Republican that talks like a Democrat, the dreaded RINO, Dems win the elections. It’s not too difficult folks, but one must be honest with the hows and whys or one will continue to get their butts spanked.
I also told Republicans how to win in future – forward conservatism – small government, responsible spending, responsive government and a closer adherence to the Founding principles. Did Republican’s take that advice and run with it? Nope! What happened then? The Tea Parties rose from nowhere to demand EXACTLY the same ideas I forwarded in November and December of 2008. Go back and look at my catalog and then come pat my brilliant ass on the back! Remember, no one heard of Tea Parties when I started forwarding what turns out are the Tea Party principles. Tea Parties as we know them did not exist in late 2008.
Lastly, an analogy – anyone remember the small town female mayor in the Dallas suburb, who in the Summer killed her 18 year old daughter and then herself? Remember anyone? This is EXACTLY what the Democrats have done – up to the part where they actually pull the trigger killing others and themselves.
She lied to her daughter, not telling the kid the family was in deep financial trouble after the death of the father a year or two prior. The mayor/mom kept up rhetoric and appearances. The kid was all excited about going to U of Texas in the Fall. Mom didn’t have the good sense to be upfront and honest about the debacle until it was way too late, and her response was murder/suicide.
Now I know to the obtuse out there my analogy is a stretch, but to those not so encumbered, see my point? To deny the truth, lie to keep up appearances and go around ones ass to get to their elbow leads where? To an abrupt end. Not death as in the Dallas case, but to a sudden and stark realization that to fool oneself and others with platitudes to keep up appearances will lead to eventual disaster. And that’s what Democrats have coming in 7 days.
“Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus . . . .” Christmas in November . . . . smells like . . . . victory!
