Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens are looking to get back on track for the 2010 NFL season. A disappointing loss in NFL Week Two to AFC North rivals the Cincinnati Bengals. Two AFC North Division games in a row make this match up against the Cleveland Browns a critical game for the Baltimore Ravens.
A rough outing for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in the Cincinnati Bengals game is creating some doubts to Flacco’s stability as a number one quarterback. Flacco’s performance against the Bengals should be no surprise to anyone that follows the AFC North. Flacco has been shut down the last three games he has played against the Cincinnati Bengals and this game against the Cleveland Browns could be a good bounce back game for him.
Running Game for Cleveland Browns & Baltimore Ravens Could Decide This AFC North Tilt
The Baltimore Ravens running game has struggled to get on track with the addition of the offensive weapons at the wide receiver position. Ray Rice has been a disappointment in his first two games but he is beginning to make improvements.
Rice must get in gear as a high powered running back and take over games to help his quarterback Flacco buy some time in the pocket on first and second down pass plays. Look for Rice to be involved catching and rushing out of the backfield against the Cleveland Browns.
Stopping the Cleveland Browns on the ground is essential to beating them. Jerome Harrison has started slow in the 2010 NFL season and his ability to hold onto the football has now become a question also. Harrison was despondent after the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in which he carried the ball 16 times for only 33 yards. Last year Harrison had his career and Cleveland record of 286 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. Running game edge goes to the Baltimore Ravens over the Cleveland Browns.
Defense of Cleveland Browns & Baltimore Ravens Will Also Help Decide Game
The Cleveland Browns defense has improved and is actually their strongest asset heading into this game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns defensive line is solid and their young cornerbacks have been a nice surprise in the the first two games. If the Cleveland Browns offense could generate any production they could be 2-0.
When it comes to defense, the Baltimore Ravens have been regarded as one of the best teams over the last decade. Ray Lewis has not aged as expected but this team does miss turnover machine Ed Reed. Once Reed is back we will see a complete Baltimore Ravens defense and the NFL will have their hands full. The defensive edge in this game goes to the Baltimore Ravens over the Cleveland Browns.
