Recently Emily Deschanel, who plays Dr. Temperance Brennan on the hit TV series “Bones” about a forensic anthropologist who solves crimes while working at the fictional “Jeffersonian Institution” talked about the upcoming season.
To recap from the end of the last season, the team from the Jeffersonian has been scattered to the four corners of the Earth. Brennan, along with the irrepressible Daisy Wick, have gone to an anthropological dig in Indonesia to hopefully find the origin of human existence. Booth has gone to Afghanistan to help train soldiers in how the FBI breaks prisoners and makes them tell all about what they know. Hodgins and Angela have gone on a romantic getaway to Paris. That leaves Cam and Sweets in Washington.
As the new season opens, according the Emily Deschanel, the dig in Indonesia is proving to be pretty much a bust, insofar as finding out the origin of human existence. Brennan is also having to deal with irate guerillas and at least one deadly python. Poor guerillas. Poor python.
Poor Brennan, we get the impression.
No word about Daisy Wick. But past experience shows that she will likely be quite a trial in her own right. Perhaps the forementioned guerillas will carry her off and she will aggravate them to distraction.
In the meantime, half way around the world. Booth is keeping coming with a female, embedded war correspondent. How much distress this will cause Brennan is unknown; no doubt she will try to hide it in her emotionally stunted, Spock-like demeanor. But she only has herself to blame.
Then, Brennan gets a call from Cam back in Washington. Cam, it seems, is in over her head about something, presumably a case. This will no doubt be the spark that sets the new season of “Bones” into motion.
How and in what fashion the old band gets back together is so far anyone’s guess. One wonders how Angela and Hodgins will feel about having their romantic sojourn in Gay Parie cut short. But then everything gets boring after a while, even Paris, one supposes.
One possible clue to what the first episode of the new season of “Bones” lays in its title: “The Mastodon in the Room.” No doubt that refers to an ancient elephant-like creature, the remains of which no doubt the Jeffersonian has on display somewhere. How that will relate to a criminal case is anyone’s guess.
Season Six of “Bones” starts September 23rd.
