The CMA awards 2010 are showing off country music’s best tonight. Therefore, the CMA awards 2010 are expected to be a tight contest, as the best groups and performers square off. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley may be hosts and winners, although Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and the Zac Brown Band also hope for glory. But although the actual competition is a big part of the show, it isn’t the entire show. In fact, the CMA awards 2010 have just as much buzz for who is performing – as old and new country singers take the mike.
The ceremony has a tight contest for Entertainer of the Year, as Lady Antebellum, co-host Brad Paisley, the Zac Brown Band, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban face off. But before that happens, there are other categories and performances that will make headlines.
The CMA awards 2010 will also honor the Male and Female Vocalists of the Year, the best New Artist and Vocal Group, and the best Vocal Duo, Song, Singer, Album, Music Video, Musical Event and Musician. Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, “Need You Now” and others are among the nominees in these categories.
In between, superstars like Kenny Chesney, Swift, Lambert and Sugarland will be performing their hits. But the most anticipated performance of the night may be from a rookie, as Gwyneth Paltrow makes her live debut. She is playing a washed up country star in the upcoming Country Strong, and she will be singing the title track on the show.
The song has already been released, so fans and curious on-lookers may have already heard Paltrow’s voice. But those who tune into the CMA awards 2010 will see her try to pass for a country star in person, in what amounts to a trailer for her film.
Beyond that, much of the night will center around the established stars. Lambert leads the nominees, as she got more than any female artist in history. The Zac Brown Band also exploded, as the new band can win both the New Artist and Entertainer trophies. Since Swift only got one nomination this year, after winning four times last year, the stage is wide open for the next king or queen of country to step in.
The CMA awards 2010 promise a lot of spectacle, and not just because of the actual awards. The show begins at 8 pm est on ABC.
