NCAA football rivalry weekend 2010 officially began yesterday with the Texas A&M Aggies getting some long-delayed revenge beating the Texas Longhorns 24-17 in Austin, but things got into full swing on Friday with a dozen plus games on the schedule.
The marquee match up of the day was the Iron Bowl, pitting undefeated No. 2 ranked Auburn against 9th ranked Alabama. Alabama jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the second quarter and it looked like good bye national championship Tigers, but Can Newton and the boys bore down, took advantage of a couple of Crimson Tide turnovers, and next thing you know they are up 28-27 and playing defense in the waning minutes of the fourth for the win. A classic college football game that sets up Auburn to play South Carolina for the SEC championship, and if they win that then a shot at National Championship (very likely against Oregon).
Other Top 25 college football scores include Nebraska’s 45-17 shellacking of Colorado and No. 1 Oregon beating No. 20 Arizona 48-29 and No. 19 Nevada upsetting No. 3 Boise State 34-31.
