Former PUBLIC restaurant alumni Emelie Kihlstrom, Tamer Hamawi and Elise Rosenberg used the social media site Kickstarter to raise funds for the finishing touches on their new Brooklyn Heights wine bar and restaurant Colonie. The trio raised over $15,000 for a “counter top and bar stools, sexy kitchen appliances, beautiful pendant lamps, and cool tiles for the wall.”
The new space at 127 Atlantic Avenue is set to open the last week of November or the first week in December. However the new space has already received its first accolade. The restaurant was named in the “Best Restaurants in Brooklyn” section of NYC.com. Apparently the “New York City Experts” know a good thing even before it exists.
Based upon the dozen or so visits I’ve had to PUBLIC and Double Crown, this place is going to excel when it comes to hospitality. Few restaurants in the borough compare when it comes to customer service. Hopefully they have former Monday Room, Selleck-wearing, sommelier Ruben design their wine list. Brooklyn could certainly use another good wine bar.
