Custom entertainment armoires can be quite pricey. However, it is incredibly simple to create your own from a basic flea market find or existing piece in your home. This copper and silver metallic stars entertainment armoire project is easy and inexpensive to create, but looks really great.
For this project, you will need:
– One wooden entertainment armoire in good condition
– Unfinished wooden star cutouts (available at craft supply stores)
– Medium or fine grit sandpaper
– Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Gloss White
– Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Copper Foil
– Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Silver Foil
– Masking tape
– Epoxy glue
– Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
To make cleanup easier when you are finished with this entertainment armoire project, cover your workspace with several layers of old newspapers and/or a large drop cloth prior to starting. Gently sand the outside of the wooden entertainment armoire with medium or fine grit sandpaper. Wipe away any dust created on the armoire from the sanding process with a tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth.
Cover any hardware on the entertainment armoire with masking tape. Prime the entire armoire, inside and out, using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Apply two to three coats of primer before letting the cabinet dry for several hours. Paint the entertainment armoire with three or more coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Gloss White. Let the piece dry overnight. Remove all masking tape pieces.
Carefully sand each of the wooden star cutouts with medium or fine grit sandpaper. There should be a good variety of sizes in the star shape cutouts. Just as was done with the armoire, wipe away any dust on the star shapes with a tack cloth or other soft cloth.
Divide the star shapes into two groups. Paint one group of stars on both sides using Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Copper Foil. Paint the second group of stars on both sides using Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Silver Foil. Add multiple coats of metallic paint until you are satisfied with the shimmer. Dry overnight.
Apply a generous portion of epoxy glue to the back of one metallic painted star shape. Adhere the star to the front of the armoire. Repeat this process until all stars are attached to the front of the entertainment armoire. Let the glue dry fully before enjoying your new furniture creation.
