Baked chicken can feed a hungry family in next to no time. Just add and combine the necessary ingredients and pop into a preheated oven. What is Country Style Chicken by McCormick like?
When my husband spotted the 38g seasoning mix, he picked up a couple of sachets. Each seasoning mix of Country Style Chicken by McCormick cost just $0.50, which is quite reasonable for a product that is meant to feed a family of six. This product also comes with a bag in which to cook the chicken and seasonings. But I was not so sure what to think. Would the chicken be tender and thoroughly cooked? What would the seasoning mix taste like?
In addition to a McCormick Cooking Bag and Seasoning Mix, you will need 2 1/2lb chicken breasts or chicken parts of your choice, 1/3 cup of flour and 2 cups of water. Combine the ingredients and then add to an oven preheated to 350oF. Cook for one hour.
Each 6g serving size contains 20 calories, 0.5g total fat, 650mg sodium, 3g carbohydrates, no protein and 4% of your daily recommended allowance of vitamin A. Even though this product is relatively low in calories, it is very high in sodium.
After an hour of baking and a five minute cool down period, the baked chicken was ready to serve. My husband served it over jasmine rice, corn on the cob and steamed broccoli. I must admit that when I looked at the chicken with the seasoning over the top that I was not particularly impressed. It was orange and lumpy, but I did not want to form too harsh of an opinion until I had actually tried it. When I bit into the chicken, it was not as tender as I had hoped it would be and the seasoning did not enhance the chicken at all. After a single bite, I actually scraped off the seasoning.
Country Style Chicken by McCormick was well priced and affordable, but it was far too salty and lacking in real taste and depth. I do not plan to purchase this product again and would not recommend it.
