Some crazy cat ladies have dozens of cats in a tiny apartment. Fortunately, it doesn’t really matter what the cat lady wears, so long as it is covered in cat hair. Preferably in a contrasting color.
Get lots of cat hair all over your crazy cat lady costume clothes. Leave your clothes at the house of a friend who has a cat. Tell your friend to encourage the cat to sleep on your clothes. If you don’t know any cat people, go to a pet store in your costume clothes and spend the day there holding and petting the cats and getting their hair all over you. A third option is to buy a rabbit pelt at a novelty store and pull the fur out of it and get that all over your costume clothes. Just tell everyone it is cat hair.
As you can see, you are going to need to choose crazy cat lady costume clothes that fur will stick to. This means fabric with pile, such as velvet, velour, terry cloth, or some other fabric which attracts and holds on to fur.
You can choose cute clothes made out of cat fur clinging fabrics, though, in colors that you like. All in hot pink might be cute, for example. A crazy cat lady usually wears pajamas or a night gown, and a robe in the movies, but I am sure even crazy cat ladies go to the market once in a while and have clothes meant for going outside. You can choose pretty much any type of clothes so long as they will hold fur. Maybe you will luck out and find a cute cat fur holding outfit.
Go through your closets, dressers and boxes first. If you don’t find anything then try your mom’s, your sister’s, your friends. Failing that, try thrift stores and garage sales.
Depending on what you end up wearing, you could pick funny slippers to match. A crazy cat lady costume is incomplete without frumpy hair, of course. Maybe tease it up on one side so it sticks up in a funny way, or wear it in curlers.
However you decide to do this, have fun! Maybe post the URL to your crazy cat lady costume in the comments below!
