Halloween is over and you have bowls of candy to show for it. It seems like a waste to throw out leftover candy but lacking any creative ideas, that’s just what many Moms do. Don’t throw it out. Here are some creative ways to make use of your leftover Halloween candy.
Snack size peanut butter cups, chocolate bars and other chocolate candies taste good when frozen. Sort your candy and put them in a freezer bag. Snack on them if you want or you can save them for months.
Bake with it.
Chop up chocolate bars and stir into brownie mix. M&M’s can be stirred into a cake mix or used to decorate a cake. Any kind of candies can be used to decorate a cake or cupcakes. Store the candy in a tightly sealed container until you are ready to use. Christmas will be here before you know it and if you are creative you can use Halloween candy to decorate home-baked treats for the holidays.
Craft with it!
Use the candy to make a candy wreath. Get out your hot glue gun and decide what size wreath you want to make. You can cut out a wreath/circular shape from a heavy piece of cardboard. Wrap it with Halloween garland that you can get very cheap since the holiday is over, and glue pieces of candy to the wreath. Tip- if you use chocolate in the wreath make sure not to hang it in the sun.
Decorate with it!
Have a birthday coming up? Use snack size candy to decorate the gift. Just tape to the ribbon on the package to make it look more festive.
Don’t trust having extra candy around? Bring it to work and share it with your co-workers. Display it in an attractive bowl and watch it disappear.
Hide the candy away in a jar on a high shelf. Use the reward of a treat to get your children to do extra chores or just as a reward for good behavior. You can also slip a piece of candy into their lunch bag to give them a special treat.
Pick out a few of your favorites and carry them in your purse for a pick-me-up or treat. The convenient snack-size Halloween candies are lower in calories than full size bars. Make sure that you limit yourself to one or two candies. Having five or six snack size Milky Ways is the same as having a full size bar.
Don’t throw out the Halloween candy, recycle it!
