Episode Recap: Bump and Grind, Season 11 – Episode 7
A sunny day in Las Vegas is interrupted by a especially heinous crime. The CSI team grabbed their gear and hit the road in search of clues. Nick sifts through pounds of dirt and garbage to unearth shredded human remains. Hidden in the back of a dump are the bloody body of an unidentified male.
The team retraces the dump trucks route and wind up at a local document shredding company. After painstakingly piecing together the shredded remains of credit cards found with the body, it is determined the plastic bank cards belonged to Larry LaMotte. Langston and Nick question LaMotte, the head of a personal identification protection business and Julius Kaplan, the head of company security.
Although the pair claims to be unaware of how the crime could be associated with the business, Langston remains skeptical. Wendy’s computer search alerts the team to some skeletons in Kaplan’s closet. The head of security for the personal identification protection company was once a hit man for organized crime. A search of Kaplan’s home brings forth evidence which links him the shredded remains found in the dump truck.
When Nick searches for Julius Kaplan to question him about the newly discovered evidence, he finds Kaplan’s lifeless body instead. Greg traces the gun found next to the body to a six year old shooting in Reno, Nevada. Hodges manage to match the bullet fragments found with the shredded dump truck remains.
DNA analysis reveals that the body is actually Larry LaMotte. Momentarily confused, the team digs further into background of the faux Larry LaMotte they met earlier in the investigation. The enigmatic identity theft pitchman is actually Arlo Karden. Before the audience has nary a moment to mourn for the cruelly disposed body of the real LaMotte, the crime takes another unexpected twist. Karden and LaMotte were once partners who used the identity protection business to steal the identities of the firm’s clients. A failed attempt to blackmail Karden resulted in the hiring of Julius to take LaMotte out of the picture. Arlo’s office assistant also conspired in the killing and cover-up of both LaMotte and Kaplan. The green-eyed monster conquered the better angels of her nature when she shot Julius Kaplan to garner a bigger share of the identity theft pie.
