My fiance and I are always leaving each other little notes of love and appreciation. He’s a lot more creative than I am, often hiding love notes that I find weeks or months after he has originally hidden them for me, and it’s a great treat. Here are some awesome ways you can show your loved one you truly care about them via a good, old fashioned love note.
My fiance once drove to my work and left sticky notes all over my car announcing how much he loved me. They were stuck to my side mirrors, stuck inside my windshield wipers, and on my back windows where I would obviously see them when I got to my car. I was tickled.
He’s left me love notes on food products I go to on a daily basis, including my coffee container, peanut butter jars, the sprouts bag in the fridge, the package of Swiss cheese, my blue cheese dressing bottle, and even inside the coffee maker carafe.
He’s left me a note written in toothpaste on the bathroom mirror, and taped notes to the TV. Months after he’s left them there, I’ll find notes in odd places, like behind my mirror, in my makeup bag, in my wallet, and tucked inside my “nice” shoes. Knowing I’ll find these notes by surprise, it’s a great treat to find these notes randomly when I least expect it.
I tuck notes inside his travel bag when he goes to work, put them in his ash tray, his glove box, and inside his lunch box. With him being gone for a few weeks at a time on the oil rigs, he finds these notes at random to know I care. I have to be sneaky though, because I’m not near as clever at hiding them as he is. Sometimes I’ll hide notes on the garden hose, the outside trash can lid, in his work boots, or in his underwear drawer.
It’s important to have and give these little notes of adoration. Often our little love notes simply are just hand-drawn hearts or smiley faces, or goofy little pet names we call each other. The point is to keep that adoration and love alive, and we’ve been doing these simple things for nearly 2 years. The first love note he left me was a week after we met, where he kissed all over my windshield with my own chapstick and wrote “I love you” in mud on my windshield. I knew then and there that this was my man.
It’s important to keep that “new” love and adoration alive by showing simple love and adoration. Flowers come in a far second to the surprise notes he leaves me all the time, and often he’ll call me just to let me know he found a note I had written days before to let me know how much he appreciated it.
Try it- get out a piece of scrap paper and draw a little heart, and put it in your honey’s coffee cup so they’ll find it in the morning. Something so little can mean so, so much.
