The Dancing With the Stars 2010 lineup is almost at the halfway point. Already, the Dancing With the Stars 2010 lineup is one-third smaller after this week’s results. The Situation’s elimination left the field down from the original 12 to eight, with the Week 5 results to be the official halfway point of Season 11. As the second half of the season approaches, the competition is now supposedly bound to get together, as the cupcakes get weeded out. But thus far, the lineup has gone through the usual predictable results, particularly in elimination nights.
In the last few seasons, the winner has been obvious from Week 1 on, and it may well be the case in Season 11 as well. Jennifer Grey was projected to be the favorite, given her past movie dancing experience. After the perfect scores she got this Monday, she is even more of a favorite than ever.
The rest of the Dancing With the Stars lineup is falling into line, although the results are varied on top. This spring, there were two favorites the whole way through, but it is less obvious who the second favorite is behind Grey this year. If Audrina Patridge keeps things up, however, that will change – although Brandy, Rick Fox and Kyle Massey might be able to fix that.
When it comes to elimination nights, however, the results are much more obvious. There has not been one surprising vote thus, as everyone voted out has had the worst judges scores, or has tied for last. David Hasselhoff, Michael Bolton, Margaret Cho and The Situation were the clear choices to be eliminated, once they had no one else to hide behind.
The future elimination results for Dancing With the Stars may be more obvious in the next few weeks. Bristol Palin initially defied expectations with a strong first two weeks. Yet she has been in the bottom two ever since, and with Cho and The Situation gone, she appears to be the favorite to leave next week. After raising hopes at first, Palin has fallen off as most everyone predicted.
Florence Henderson and Kurt Warner have also struggled, although the others’ results have kept them around. But Palin, Henderson and Warner make up the basement now, so they are favored to be the next three who face elimination.
At this point, Dancing With the Stars is following the usual formula. Grey, Brandy, Fox and Massey have been contenders as expected, with Patridge as the only slight surprise. The rest of the field has had an orderly exit, which stands to continue for a while unless some twists emerge.
This show has not been an ideal place for suspense lately, and predictability is starting to set in again. The Dancing With the Stars lineup will set out to defy that – or keep it going – starting Monday at 8 pm est on ABC.
