Monday night on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, it was time to rock and roll as the 7 remaining contestants danced to rock songs and competed in a dance marathon that rocked their socks off! The Week 6 main dance alternated between the tango and the paso doble, and later the stars went freestyle, proving some of them were “born to be wild”.
But first, it was a roundup of Dancing With the Stars’ all time best dances ever, as voted by the viewers. The top 10 dances of all time were:
10. Shawn Johnson and Mark Balls (Season 8) Freestyle
9. Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson (Season (9) Argentine Tango
8. Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough (Season 5) Quickstep
6. Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough (Season 4) Freestyle
5. Mel B. and Maksim Chermkovskiy (Season 5) Paso Doble
4. Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough (Season 10) Paso Doble
3. Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough (Season 4) Samba
2. Giles Marini and Cheryl Burke (Season 8) Argentine Tango
1. Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke (Season 2) Freestyle
Next it was time to rock out via the tango or paso doble. So how did the stars score on Week 6 of Dancing With the Stars Season 11?
Audrina Patridge, and Tony Dovolani – Paso Doble- “Another One Bites the Dust”
“The Hills” star didn’t impress all the judges this week, with judge Len Goodman telling her, “You’re getting on my nerves a bit….it lacks the character of the dance.” Carrie Ann Inaba said it a little nicer, telling Patridge she’s lacking the intention behind the movement.
JUDGES SCORE : 24 /30
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Tango- “If I Had You”
The Disney star kicked it up a notch this week, with Inaba telling him that she liked “the Kyle style”. Even curmudgeon Len said, “I’m not gonna sack you, I’m gonna back you tonight.”
JUDGES SCORE : 23/30
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Paso Doble- “Rock Star”
The once golden couple had a blah (dare I say grey?) week. Carrie Ann Inaba called the whole thing disjointed and “terribly wrong”. Even Grey agreed it was a rough ride.
JDGES SCORE : 20/30
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke-Tango- “You Really Got Me”
Mixed reviews here (I personally thought Fox looked asleep for most of the dance). But Len Goodman thought the couple did an excellent job. Bruno Tonioli got dramatic, gushing to Fox, “It was like a Mohican on the warpath.”
JUDGES SCORE : 24/30
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Tango- “According to You“
After last week’s dismal monkey dance, Bristol Palin pulled out all the stops and really got into her tango this week. Bruno dubbed it the “best performance and best technique of the day”. Carrie Ann called the dance “ridiculously amazing” And even Len chimed in with, “Last week a chimp, this week (almost) a champ”.
JUDGES SCORE : 23 /30
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya – Paso Doble- “The Final Countdown”
The former pro football star had a few problems this week with his paso. Carrie Ann thought it wasn’t polished, enough, saying, “It didn’t come together.” Bruno told Warner, “You looked like you were doing karate instead of Spanish dances.” Lowest scores of the night right here.
JUDGES SCORE : 18/30
Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy –Tango- “I Need a Hero”
In the dance of the night, Len praised Maks for his choreography, saying, “You’re my hero!” Bruno told Brandy, “That tango really rocked!”
JUDGES SCORE : 26/30
Next, for a prize booty of 10 extra points added to their total score, the 7 remaining couples danced freestyle to ZZ Top’s “Tush”.
The already-tired couples fell out quickly. First a dejected Kurt and Anna, then Bristol and Mark, then Rick and Cheryl. In the end it was the three couples that have been frontrunners all season: Audrina and Tony, Derek and Jennifer and Brandy and Maks. Brandy and Maks won the dance marathon and received an extra 10 points.
Tuesday night on the Dancing With the Stars Week 6 results show, legendary rock band Heart will perform their hit song “Barracuda.” And pop singer Kylie Minogue will also perform.
Who will go home on “DWTS’ Week 6? You can catch the results episode of Dancing With the Stars on October 26th at 9:00 PM ET on ABC.
