ABC announced the 12 new cast members of the 11th edition of Dancing with the Stars during last night’s Bachelor Pad. Click to see their slide show.
Here’s the list and commentary based on their public personas solely (this has nothing to do with their actual dancing performances during the yet to be broadcast show). Find out the professional dance partners of the stars here.
Brandy – she became a hit singer and actor in her teens, but hasn’t really been able to break out as she got older. She’s now in her early 30s and looks more beautiful than ever – she’ll definitely be one to watch.
Margaret Cho – the Korean-American comedienne is fierce during her comedy routines and has revealed her drug addiction and sexual preferences in her autobiography. Her recent passion has been tattoos, so hopefully her DWTS outfits will show these off, but can she dance and take criticism from the judges? We hope so and think she could be a dark horse.
Jennifer Grey – 80s actor best known for appearing in “Dirty Dancing” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Her subsequent nose job rendered her unrecognizable and pretty much ended her acting career. She has since struggled to make a comeback so maybe DWTS will do that for her. Just reclaim your inner “Baby” to win Jennifer!
Florence Henderson – tenacious actor best known for playing Carol Brady in the 70s show “The Brady Bunch.” For some reason we thought she had already been on DWTS. One time we were on the same plane as her but she ensconced herself in first class. She probably won’t be as colorful as Cloris Leachman but we can hope.
Bristol Palin – infamous teen mom and daughter of 2008 Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin – who has really used her new notoriety to her favor. She’s also a good example of why “abstinence-only” school sex-ed programs don’t work.
Audrina Patridge – now that MTV’s “The Hills” reality show is over, Audrina needs to keep herself in the limelight. She can party and dance in clubs so hopefully this will translate into ballroom moves.
Michael Bolton – he makes millions of women and (probably some men) swoon with his smooth voice and former silky locks. He’s never danced in his videos, which mostly showcase his awesome voice so he might not go that far in the competition.
Rick Fox – ABC says he’s an actor/producer and former NBA champion with the LA Lakers. Most television viewers will know him as Vanessa Williams former husband and guest actor on her now cancelled ABC show “Ugly Betty”. He looks like a good dancer though and has a nice body.
David Hasselhoff – actor/singer/personality who once wore a t-shirt saying: “don’t hassle the Hoff.” He was great in 80s show “Knight Rider” and many loved him on “Baywatch” but do any American viewers know that he was a hit singer in Germany in the late 80s with a song called “Looking for Freedom.” His dance moves weren’t that great then so let’s see how he does.
Kyle Orlando Massey – a (surprise) Disney star – Disney is ABC’s parent company and is obviously promoting its own here. He looks like a sweet kid though so we won’t hold that against him.
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino – another reality star from MTV, this “Jersey Shore” star has really been smart with his newly found fame. Recent reports claim that Sorrentino can make $5 million this year. We hope that his famous abs will be on display all the time during DWTS.
Kurt Warner – a former football quarterback for the St. Louis Rams. He led his team to Super Bowl victory, but most football stars that previously danced on DWTS never progressed that far.
The new season will debut Monday September 20 at 8 pm on ABC
