Tuesday’s episode on week 3 of Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars was “story night.”
*Elimination results of Wednesday’s episode following recap.
The first dance of the night on DWTS was Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough doing a samba. In the dance, the story included Jennifer as Derek’s “teacher.” The performance received high reviews although a slight entanglement in the middle was noted. Carrie Ann, the female judge, thought the duo would lose their top spot. The couple scored 24.
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas performed the waltz next on Dancing with the Stars. Florence was excited to dance to music from The Sound of Music and emotional over the memories of her husband the music evoked. The dance ended with a passionate embrace and kiss. The judges noted the simplicity of their waltz, but gave positive reviews for the story aspect. Florence and Corky’s dance earned a score of 20.
Although Susan Boyle was scheduled to perform as a special guest, she was forced to cancel due to a sore throat. Michael Bolton, the eliminated contestant of last week on Dancing with the Stars, will perform tomorrow night instead.
The third performance of DWTS was Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya dancing the foxtrot. Kurt said during rehearsal that he “feels like a tree on the dance floor.” Although he may feel that way, it was not demonstrated in his performance. The only judge with negative remarks was Bruno. The duo scored 23.
Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel danced next on Dancing with the Stars with a samba. Margaret had to miss some of her rehearsals during the week due to comedy performances. The lack of rehearsal was noticeable in the dance, and the couple experienced some difficulties. The duo sent out a positive message of pride and support to the gay and lesbian community before receiving their score. Margaret and Louis received an 18.
The fifth dance of DWTS was Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani. The couple performed the waltz, using the story of a Marine coming back from the dead to dance with his love. The judges gave very high praise and positive reviews. The duo received a score of 26. Dancing with the Stars also highlighted the waxing of Tony’s legs for not receiving three 8s the previous week.
Next on Dancing with the Stars were Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas with a foxtrot. Although the judges complimented Bristol’s execution of her dance moves, they noted a lack in acting and emotion throughout her performance. Bristol and Mark received a score of 19.
Brandy and Maksim Chermkovskiy followed with a samba. The DWTS judges gave complimentary remarks, with Bruno especially excited about Brandy’s “diva” performance. Brandy made an effort to try harder in rehearsal, and it showed in their dance. The couple received a score of 24.
Eighth on Dancing with the Stars were Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer with a waltz. The two told a story of falling in love at a coffee shop. The judges loved Kyle’s personality and acting level throughout the dance but critiqued his lack of foot work. Kyle and Lacey’s score was 23.
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff danced the foxtrot to Boom, Boom, Pow next on DWTS. The judges noticed an improvement in Mike’s performance, but Len had some harsh words for the dance. The couple received a 20.
The last performance of the night was Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke’s very sexy samba. The dance was well executed, and the judges all loved it. Rick and Cheryl received a score of 24.
For week 3, Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani received the highest score of the night on Dancing with the Stars with a 26, and Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel were at the bottom with a score of 18.
