Tuesday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars on Season 11, week 4 was the first ever “Acoustic Week.” This week on DWTS, the dances were performed on a circular stage. Also shaken up were the scores, with a double score from each judge: one for performance and one for technique.
*Wednesday’s Dancing with the Stars Elimination results following recap!
The first dance of the night on DWTS were Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya with the Rumba. (It was the 13th wedding anniversary for Kurt and his wife.) Len gave Kurt positive remarks on both his hip technique and the romantic performance he brought to the dance. Bruno thought the sexiness was more a long the lines of a “brother and sister” relationship, and criticized Kurt’s hands. Carrie Ann enjoyed most of the performance, but also had issues with Kurt’s arm technique.
Technical Score – 15
Performance Score – 19
DWTS Total= 34 / 60
Brandy and Maksim Chermkovskiy performed a sexy Rumba next on Dancing with the Stars. The dance was very romantic, and Brandy wore a beautiful, flowing costume. Bruno loved the performance. Carrie Ann also complimented the performance, but found some technical problems with Brandy’s legs. Len also had very high praise for the performance aspect of the dance as well as the technique.
Technical Score – 22

The third performance of DWTS were Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke with an Argentine Tango. Rick had a lot to live up to following his open shirt performance in week 3 of Dancing with the Stars. Carrie Ann felt the dance was very “one dimensional.” Len was impressed with the lifts, but felt Rick lost some of his intensity throughout the dance. Mixed reviews on both the performance and technical components from Bruno rounded out the judges remarks.
Technical Score – 19
Performance Score – 20
DWTS Total = 39 / 60
Next on Dancing with the Stars was a Rumba by Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer. Throughout rehearsal, Kyle worked hard to improve his technique and footwork. His hard work on his footwork was evident, but it appeared to have taken away from his upper body technique. Len and Bruno complimented his performance, but thought his moves were too sharp. Carrie Ann agreed.
Technical Score – 18
Performance Score – 22

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff followed on DWTS with an Argentine Tango. “The Situation” showed off his trademark abs during the performance. Bruno’s description of the dance was “a terrible mess.” Carrie Ann made notice of Mike’s abs, and although criticizing the dance, thought he had improved. Len thought the dance maintained its flow throughout, but its flow was terrible.
Technical Score – 12
Performance Score – 16

Performing sixth on Dancing with the Stars were Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas with the Rumba. The pair really brought a sexy component to their performance, but Florence did have an issue with a turn combination. Carrie Ann thought the dance took the raunchiness slightly too far, but Len enjoyed it. Bruno also gave the dance compliments, but did criticize the technical components.
Technical Score – 17
Performance Score – 18
DWTS Total = 35 / 60
An Argentine Tango by Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough was next on Dancing with the Stars. Throughout rehearsals, Jennifer had issues with pain and injuries, but Derek pushed her because he believed she could do it. The duo began their dance very uniquely by each playing on the piano. Jennifer Grey was amazing. Len, Bruno, and Carrie Ann all agreed the dance was performed extremely well with strong technique. Derek was right, Jennifer could do it and do it very well.
Technical Score – 27
Performance Score – 29
DWTS Total = 56 / 60
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas followed on Dancing with the Stars with a Rumba. Bristol was very nervous throughout the week with the “sexy” components of the Rumba dance. Tripp, Bristol’s son, was shown giving a high-five to Mark on his approval of his mom’s performance during practice. Bruno thought her technique was clean but was still disappointed in her performance. Carrie Ann and Len both thought Bristol did not perform the way she needed to and needed to bring out emotion in her dance.
Technical Score – 18
Performance Score – 14
DWTS Total = 32 / 60
The final performance of the night on DWTS was Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani with the Argentine Tango. The pair earned the highest score on week 3 of Dancing With the Stars, but did not perform well enough to take the lead tonight. The judges complimented the performance, but felt it was lacking in some aspects.
