The dance floor was polished and the judges and audience back in place for the tense seventh elimination results show of Season 11. Last night Bristol Palin got the lowest score and Kyle Massey got the second lowest score. So who was safe tonight or in jeopardy and going home?
The show was a continuation of last night’s 200th episode extravaganza. For the reprise performance the judges asked to see Team Apolo Ohno’s cha cha.
Then the faceless announcer was ready to reveal the fate for the first set of couples.
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy = Safe
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas = Jeopardy
To celebrate the 200th episode, it was now time to give out some DWTS awards. The first award was for the “Most Dramatic Moment.” The nominees were Marie Osmond’s faint, Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani’s fight, Misty May’s Achilles tendon, Cristian’s injured arm and Kelly’s wardrobe malfunction. The award went to… Marie Osmond, the woman knows drama.
Ladies and gentlemen please welcome Macy’s Stars of Dance with this excerpt of “Step in Time” from Mary Poppins. The only thing missing was Dick Van Dyke’s “cockney” accent.
And then please welcome Taylor Swift singing “Speak Now.”
Then the award for “Best Worst Dancer.” It was a tough decision between Kenny Mayne, Master P, Kate Gosselin (again – really?), Steve Wozniak and Billy Ray Cyrus. The award went to… Kenny Mayne.
But we really wanted to know was who was still safe and who was still in jeopardy? Faceless announcer?
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough = Safe
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke = Jeopardy
The nominees for the “Dance Pro No Longer in Contention” “Best Hip Swiveler” “Hottest Male Dancer” “Biggest Dancer Transformation” were Derek Hough, Tony Dovolani, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Mark Ballas and Louis Van Amstel. The award went to Louis Van Amstel for cutting off his golden ponytail.
And now please welcome Rod Stewart singing “I Get A Kick Out of You.” Did any of the 20-somethings even know who this guy was?
Then more results. Faceless announcer?
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya = Safe
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer = Jeopardy
Please welcome Taylor Swift again to sing “White Horse” with a montage of DWTS’s greatest moments playing in the background.
Then it was announced that next week the couples wouldn’t know what song they would be dancing to until Monday night’s show. Jaw drop. That’s a bit unfair, no?
There were now three couples still in jeopardy, faceless announcer please tell us who is safe:
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas = Safe
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer = Jeopardy
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke = Jeopardy
Just to fill in more time the stars for “Skating with the Stars” were revealed:
Bethenny Frankel – serial reality star (this would be her fourth reality show)
Jonny Moseley – Olympic skier
Rebecca Budig – soap opera star and former wife of Bachelor Bob
Brandon Mychal Smith – Disney Channel star (of course)
Sean Young – 80s actor from “Bladerunner”
Vince Neil – serial “celebrity” reality star and former Motley Crue singer
Finally the last two couples were lined up and it was revealed that Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke were the seventh couple to be eliminated. Rick was gracious but disappointed he wouldn’t be able to compete anymore. He told Entertainment Weekly that his body was just getting used to the grueling practices. Well now he can go and “practice” at home with his GF Eliza Dushku.
Dancing with the Stars: The Results airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on ABC.
