“Dancing with the Stars” 11/8 episode had a new spin for contestants on the dance floor. Instant dance was the focus of this week’s competition and it was a lot of fun watching the show take a new direction in giving scores. Five couples remain and each of them had less than an hour to practice their dance routine
In regular ballroom competitions, dancers step onto the dance floor without a clue as to what music will play. Trust in their partners is key in making the routine work and earning good scores. On the 11/8 show, contestants had less than an hour from when they received the music until the time they had to perform it live.
Potential disasters could have happened on “DWTS” in the instant dance competition such as tangled legs, falling, and skipping a beat. Rhythm challenged dancers can have a hard time keeping up the pace, lose track of time, and be unable to finish with the song.
The “Dancing with the Stars” cast of five contestants did an excellent job and shocked even the judges. Their scores were impressive. Brandy and Maks share the top of the leader board with Jennifer and Derek.

A bit of drama was added on the 11/8 episode after Brandy and Maks’ instant dance. Maks interrupted Carrie Ann’s comments before she gave her score. He disagreed with her criticism of Brandy’s “musicality” and how Kurt Warner was right on the first beat with his instant dance. Maks resented the Carrie Ann’s call on the routine and continued by saying she ought to watch them in rehearsals.
Maks continued that he believed professional dancers are overlooked for all their hard work in training. He did, however, praise the cast of stars they have on “DWTS” and recognize their efforts in being so committed.
“Dancing with the Stars” has mastered surprises on the show in almost every way. The instant dance competition was a genius idea and made the show more fun for viewers, though the cast may see it differently!
Scores for the first instant dance competition were high on the 11/8 episode. Expect more of these fun dances on “Dancing with the Stars.”
