Michael Bolton danced his last dance on Dancing with the Stars on the second night of season 11.
Bolton and dance partner Chelsie Hightower received the lowest vote of the evening from the Judges on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Bolton and Hightower danced the jive to an old Elvis Presley song, Hound Dog. According to DWTS Judge Len Goodman “the only thing that was missing was a pooper scooper to clean up the mess”.
The judges awarded the dance team a 12 and said it was a doggy mess.
Bolton who is in the middle of a concert tour had to cancel two shows this week in Modesto and Oroville because of laryngitis showed up for DWTS rehearsals wearing a face mask. Bolton 56 is already at a disadvantage in the competition because of his age; add that to his heavy schedule and top that off with laryngitis and the poor guy didn’t have a chance.
That said some of the credit for such a low score has to go to Hightower. While she is a talented dancer and choreographer winning an Emmy nomination with fellow DWTS pro Derek Hough the opening of the dance was pretty lame. No one wants to watch a good looking mature male come crawling out of a dog house. What was Bolton thinking???
If Hightower had former contestant David Hasselhoff as her partner instead of Michael Bolton the opening might have worked?
Grammy Award Winner Bolton is best known as a singer with 17 albums and 35 singles, nine of which have made it to the top of the charts. He is also known for his charitable works giving both of his money and time to causes helping women and children.
When the television audience votes were tallied Bolton was voted off the show.
For now Bolton is rehearsing his DWTS CD for the judges. The album includes Bolton singing, “Don’t Tell Me That it’s Over”, “Fighting For My Life”, “I Surrender”, and ends with the old Sinatra hit “That’s Life”.
We love you Michael.
