It’s September and a new season of television programming. That includes another installment of Dancing With the Stars.
Reality show stars seem to be a popular choice this season as there are a bunch of them. Add some retired athletes, a few washed up actors and the token singers and we have a show.
The show had a Latin feel right from the start. The couples will perform the Viennese Waltz or the cha-cha-cha tonight. Two tough dances to begin the competition. Let’s look at how our couples fared.
Audrina Patridge and Tony – Tony always gets a challenge for his partner and this season his project is Audrina. Tony did great and Audrina did a respectable first dance. She shows potential. Audrina got a 19 out of 30.
Kurt Warner and Anna. If there is a nicer guy than Kurt Warner, I’d like to meet him. But can a nice guy win Dancing With the Stars? The former MVP and Super Bowl champ is athletic and hard working. Kurt was stylish and graceful. Len was a bit hard on him, but he still earned a 19.
Kyle Massey and Lacey. I didn’t know much about Kyle, he has been on some Disney shows. He had an energetic performance, and Len even liked it. Kyle starts with an impressive 23.
Rick Fox and Cheryl. What a great pair. There is a big height differential between these two. Rick is smooth and has fun on the dance floor. The judges commented about his superb posture and he gets a 22.
Margaret Cho and Louis. Margaret has a great pro to work with in Louis. She’s kind of a nut, so Louis will have to keep her in check. She tried injecting some comedy into her routine and kind of fell flat with me. The judges were a bit perplexed as well, she receives a 15.
Brandy and Maks. Maks is demanding of his partners. Brandy say she is ready for whatever Maks throws at her. Kind of surprised they didn’t dance to “Brandy” but Looking Glass, but I’m sure that is coming. Brandy looks like she could go far in this competition. She gets a 23.
Bristol Palin and Mark. Not sure what to expect of Bristol. Mark is a great teacher and Bristol is going to need that to get confidence. She didn’t do too badly for her first dance. If she gets over the nerves she will be better. With Mark’s help she gets a 18.
Florence Henderson and Corky. Mrs. Brady and Corky. Florence is 76 and is taking the dancing seriously. Corky did a great job with her and they get an 18.
Michael Bolton and Chelsie. Michael will be the first to tell you, he’s not a dancer. Chelsie gave him a dance he could do, but he didn’t lead enough. He needs to relax to advance in the competition. Michael receives a 16 and will need to improve.
The Situation and Karina. With only 5 days of practice, here’s The Situation. It was a good effort, but he needs work. The judges told him it’s going to be a lot of hard work and he gets 15 points.
Jennifer Grey and Derek. This should be a great duo. Jennifer is putting her all into performing and it shows. A great performance. She gets a 24 and she should do better in the future.
David Hasselhoff and Kym. Great to see Kym back on the show. David has done it all, and now he’s dancing on tv. I have to say, The Hoff has some moves. I don’t know what to make of his moves, and the judges didn’t either. The Hoff gets a 15.
