Dancing With The Stars Week 6 results show left viewers and fans shocked as Audrina Patridge was the latest to be eliminated from the competition. Patridge’s exit proves once again that popularity and fan base are so much more critical than technique and talent if one wants to survive on DWTS.
As so to create drama and keep viewers viewing, the producers of DWTS set the stage for suspense immediately by announcing that Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya are safe.
The tension builds even more so when it’s announced that Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas are safe. Thus, if two of the lowest scoring couples are safe, who in the world from the rest of the posse could be in jeopardy?
With a performance of ‘Barracuda’ by Heart (and, yes, that really was Nancy and Ann Wilson on stage), Rick and Cheryl are deemed safe while Kyle and Lacey find themselves “still in jeopardy.”
Thus, things are starting to make sense. Anyone tagged with Cheryl Burke, regardless of talent level, generally makes it pretty far into the competition so Rick being safe is no big surprise.
Crowd favorite Kyle Massey is the only one most likely, or so it seems, to find himself in jeopardy if Kurt and Bristol have already safely reached the harbor. In other words, if one is to base the results on talent, it would seem right that Kurt, Bristol and Kyle are the most likely to go before Jennifer Grey, Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox, and new favorite Brandy.
In fact, the plot appears to be resolved in mid-show with Kyle potentially being the one to go home. It appears we can all relax as we listen to what Alice Cooper, Bret Michaels and Dee Snider think about the competitors and what they need to do to win the coveted mirror-ball trophy.
However, after Kylie Minogue performs “Get Out of my Way”, the producers of Dancing With The Stars have another surprise for us.
It’s announced that Audrina and Tony, along with super talent-filled couple Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough are in jeopardy.
Yet, it just couldn’t be that either Audrina or Jennifer, the two ladies consistently producing high scores during the six weeks of Season 11, would be the viable candidate to go home.
The tension mounts, however, when Tom Bergeron says that Kyle and Lacey are safe. What?! Does that mean Audrina or Jennifer is going home? No way! Tom and Brooke didn’t even warn us that there would be “shocking results”. In fact, the two hosts acted as if Kurt or Bristol were getting ready to leave.
At least the trio of judges had the good sense to act surprised to see Audrina and Jennifer standing on stage with their professional dance partners. Head Judge Len Goodman stated, “it’s nonsense”, and could muster no other words of comfort.
However, don’t forget that the judges were also very critical of Audrina Monday evening stating that she did not get “into character”. Did viewers and voters buy into that assessment?
Apparently so. Moments after the infamous beating of the drum ceased, it was announced that Audrina Patridge was going home.
