Dancing with the Stars premieres tonight on ABC at 8/7 central. The popular reality TV show, where celebrities team up with professional dancers to dance and compete for prize money, is in its 11th season. The show is hosted by Tom Bergeron and new co-host, Season 7 Dancing with the Stars champion, model Brooke Burke. Famous previous contestants have included Marie Osmond, Lance Bass, Kelly Osbourne, Pamela Anderson and Kate Gosselin.
Who are some of the more colorful cast members for the Dancing with the Stars premiere?
Not every Dancing with the Stars cast member is a pre-premiere favorite for the press. However, Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah Palin, has received the most attention so far. Bristol is teamed with professional dancer Mark Ballas. She heated up the gossip pages when she declared that her DWTS outfits would be modest and when rumors surfaced that she was acting like a diva by members of the crew. Look for her mom Sarah Palin in the audience.
Another pre-premiere favorite for the press is Mike Sorrentino, more lovingly known as The Situation, from the reality TV show Jersey Shore. The ex-exotic dancer, according to TMZ, who is teamed with Karina Smirnoff on Dancing with the Stars, has become as famous as Jersey Shore‘s Snooki and is beginning to command large amounts of money since he first appeared on Jersey Shore. Will his exotic dancing background transfer to success on DWTS? We shall see.
This time its The Hoff’s turn to get judged. David Hasselhoff, who is a judge on America’s Got Talent, pairs with professional dancer Kym Johnson. The Hoff has had problems with alcohol in the past, but alcohol and rigorous professional dancing won’t mix. Fans can watch The Hoff shape up as he gets the workout of his life.
Other Dancing with the Stars celebrities include Audrina Patridge, Brandy, Florence Henderson, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Warner, Kyle Massey, Margaret Cho, Michael Bolton and Rick Fox.
Will the Dancing with the Stars premiere be another hit for the popular show?
Dancing with the Stars was one of the top reality TV shows in 2009 and chances are, the same will happen in 2010. Although shows like American Idol and Survivor have brought in more viewers, Dancing with the Stars continues to hold top standings every year. Pre-premiere publicity, no doubt, helps to get it started as viewers tune in to see how their favorite stars will perform.
