Dancing with the Stars Season 11 semi finals included Brandy and Maks, Jennifer and Derek, Kyle and Lacey and the most controversial team Bristol and Mark.
Week nine; the semi finals saw Jennifer and Derek receive two perfect scores for both the Argentine Tango and the Waltz. This placed team Baby Derek in first place on the leader board. Combined with the audience votes Jennifer and Derek were safe from elimination and moved on to the final round. Jennifer and Derek have consistently been at the top of the pack on the leader board throughout the competition.
Taking second place on the leader board for Season 11 week nine were Kyle and Lacey. The night before Kyle and Lacey received two sets of 29 points from the judges for a total of 58 and their highest scores of the season. Kyle is a natural performer and was told by the Judges throughout the competition, “What you lack in technique you make up with in personality and fun”. The home audience must have agreed and Kyle and Lacey were voted into the finals.
According to Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron on the results show, “Millions of viewers voted for their favorites and we received the most votes in the shows history at this stage of the competition”.
With Jennifer and Kyle safe and secure in the finals, Brandy and Bristol were left to face the music. Bristol and Mark stepped up their game and received their highest scores to date and accolades from the judges. Team ‘Ballin’s Paso Doble left the studio audience standing on their feet applauding and Len saying this was their best dance of the season. The fact that Bristol and Mark are still in the competition after being at the bottom of the leader board for six times was fodder for her critics on TV and the internet.
Brandy has made no secret about how much she has wanted to win the mirror ball trophy. Fans have watched week after week as she pushed herself in practice and came out a winner time after time in the judges’ eyes. The night before Brandy and Maks received a perfect score for their Paso Doble and a 27 for their waltz giving the pair a 57 for the night and third place on the leader board.
At the end of the night with the votes tallied Brandy and Maks were eliminated and Bristol and Mark moved on the finals. When Tom Bergeron made the announcement, Brandy looked stunned and appeared to be trying to hold back her tears. When asked how she felt, Brandy replied,” I don’t know how I feel”. Maks said, “One thing I love about this country is people can vote and this was the people’s choice”.
In the end Brandy’s tears began to roll down her cheeks and Bristol lived to dance again.
