David Letterman’s recent comment on president Obama’s over vacationing and being a one term President could be right on the money who knows for sure? The question that is swirling around in my mind is this Letterman’s statement or did he have help from other writers and polls around the country?
Lately President Obama with all that is going on in the Gulf and the economy does seem to take a lot of time off work. This could be caused from stress from many different angles. After all I am not the President and have no ideal what the job entails.
Maybe David Letterman was simply kicking someone when they are down or simply saying what is on the minds of the majority of American’s. After all the economy is bad, American’s are losing their homes, marriages and jobs. Seeing someone vacation in luxury at their expense is the last thing most people want to see. This is like driving a Mercedes Benz up to the front door of someone in the projects living on welfare.
Almost everyone in America gets vacation time but not everyone can afford to take a vacation. Sometimes it seems we could all take vacations at an awkward time at work. There is never a good time that is unless one’s job might be considered non-essential.
Take the military for instance they get vacation time allotted but can not take it at certain times of need. This is considered an essential job. How would it be if we had to call in the National Guard and they were all on vacation? How about the people who sign our checks at work what would happen if they were on vacation all of the time? What about hospital staff, or police or fireman these are all essential jobs?
David Letterman has said some pretty hurtful things about many different people over the year’s maybe this will be chalked up to that. Another way to look at it may be someone in power at the studio or Letterman himself had a moment of anguish. Maybe he is one of the first to actually start capitalizing on this President’s spoofs? Usually Presidents start taking hits when their poll numbers are down.
At any rate what is said is said and no amount of apologizing will remove it once it is spoken.
